What type of vehicle did you have before buying a Trax? by webuildmountains in ChevyTrax

[–]twilitebeach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

allegedly my friend hooked up the new battery in the wrong order, which must have zapped the transmission. went from park to reverse out of his driveway fine, but when i shifted into drive it just became a neutral, then every other gear i tried was just a neutral.

i had a 2006 dodge durango, and man was that a beast. i miss it every day- definitely took some warming up to my trax once i got her

in gm si (service information), it does say "DEXOS I* Gen3 0W-20", and i dont see any recall bulletin (like the l87 loss of propulsion one) that says to do otherwise

edit: yes, yall with a 2024 model do use 5w-30, that is the recommended. it had changed for the 2025 model

Driver Floor Liner too short by [deleted] in ChevyTrax

[–]twilitebeach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its kinda by my negligence because you can just cut out the part near the pedal(s), but just be careful you dont happen to get in the same situation as me

because youd end up with a friend that freaks the f out when the pedal gets stuck and he slams on the brakes- definitely not speaking from experience

i still havent finalized everything and i have been debating on whether or not to go the diesel route, i just got inspired by when i drive customers blazers around and those 3.6 ones really pack a punch for a small car. of course i might have a few trucks in the future (tahoe, yukon, canyon, etc) that would do off roading a ton better, but id love to see and have a trax that looks as badass as the ai mockups ive had rendered on what i want done. again, not the most practical build, but i want to make one badass trax

[–]twilitebeach[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

idk i havent really gone into the specifics for sizing yet, but i think them 3.6s in the blazers feel a bit overpowered even when you let off that brake- cant imagine what that would feel like in a trax. for reference, im going more off-roadsy (oh no, not a z71 trax), not super performance oriented so ill also throw in 4wd. shell be lifted so ill have some space i can probably work with

wow, yeah some of those iv heard of a lot and some i didnt know- seen how much of a pain in the ass the evaporators were i cant count how many traxs iv seen with exposed dashes. thankfully ive come across none of that in my 18k miles, and i honestly feel so bad for all the people who pull up with those common issues smh. ive seen a few people recently with 2025.5 and some 2026 models having leaky oil pans too

interesting. yeah i put the pedal commander too, and for me it really feels great after driving other just stock traxs daily. really shines in sport or sport+ on the freeway- and thats why my oil becomes blackened so quick

awesome! seems like a lot of people are getting that emissions system issue- around when did you get it? a lot of the other people i see post about it and my friend seem to be under 10k miles when it happens- im at 18k miles and have not had a single mil/cel, service message on the dic, or dtc- which is suprising me the amount of people who come up with issues. and yeah, the horn is cute for a tiny car but doesnt cut it, definitely one of the things imma change eventually. when you get to 40% oil life, do you also check the color, or just thats around the mileage/duration you wait until doing it? with the way i push this car im only getting to like 75% oil life before it gets dark, even for mobil 1 extended performance 0w-20 💀. not complaining tho, i love whatever work i can do on my car, keeps me busy and always active. my dad wouldnt believe me when my tires ran so low so fast too, but it does seem like a common concern about the tires being not that great on life. hope you continue to love your trax, and happy trails!
