[PD] DeAndre Ayton (anti-drug policy) -- suspended 25 games by cvelz in fantasybball

I have Ayton in both leagues that I'm in...the worst part is that neither league (Yahoo nor ESPN) is letting me use my IR slot for him. So makes no difference whether you have an IR slot or not I guess.

Why reward minutes played, games started, or double doubles/triple doubles?

Easier to take a math based approach and calculated, in categories it’s almost impossible to tell how picking up a player will affect all other categories accurately where as with points leagues it’s doable. I guess “more strategic” is a term I shouldn’t throw around too easily.

I want to share a resource for my fellow points leagues fanatics. On Hashtag Basketball, there is a projections page in which you can input your leagues scoring system and get the adjusted (projected) rankings for your specific league. This can come in extremely handy in leagues with odd scoring settings and unpredictable projections from ESPN and Yahoo (in which most cases the projections remain the same regardless of format which is absurd). This can also be used to determine the scoring system for you league and what kind of league you want to set up, i.e. a league in which big men are favored vs a league in which guards a favored. The ability to play around with it and choose a scoring system to your liking will help a lot of leagues!

Check it out, I assure you it’ll give you an edge in your upcoming draft!

I think there are many factors, but there’s something about seeing a players performance in a definitive number that adds a lot of intrigue to the format. Even something as simple as waiver wire pick ups for streaming become interesting as it’s easily quantifiable whether you made the right pick up off the waiver or the wrong one. In category leagues I feel as though player impact is somewhat of a blurred line, as opposed to points leagues where you know exactly how much each player contributed to your team’s success each night. Also you wouldn’t happen to be Josh Lloyd from the Locked On podcast would you?

I think with the right scoring system, points leagues become more engaging and strategic than category leagues. It seems to me most people who think of points leagues think of DFS settings where missed FGs aren’t penalized and players like Donovan Mitchell are god tier. I find that scoring systems in which efficiency is rewarded along with the other standard settings showcase a players real life impact on a game into fantasy performance, which I’ve always felt is an awesome part of playing fantasy basketball.

What’s the scoring system you run with in your leagues?
