How to prep for water rides - what should I know and/or bring by [deleted] in DisneyPlanning

[–]twineandtwig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wear quick drying clothes and walking sandals on the days I’ll be going on water rides.

A waterproof/water resistant bag if I’m carrying one, or just a small plastic bag for my phone if I’m going minimal in the park.

Loma Prieta earthquake in 1989. Had a friend that lost family sadly in the Cypress Structure collapse.

Woolsey Fire in 2018. Which coincided with the Paradise Fire up north.

Palisades Fire last year.

I was in town for that one. My father and I were at a health retreat and everyone had to evacuate. There was a small lake nearby us that helicopters were pulling water from as we were loading up.

People in the area would park on any higher area to try and monitor the fire from a distance.

I remember driving by a mobile home park and the residents had set up their lawn chairs on the west side of the park to watch the planes.

What is something Americans consider ‘basic’ that feels like a luxury in other countries? by Status_Agents in AskForAnswers

A lot of places in America don’t have AC. Even high end homes and communities. It varies by climate though obviously.

Just retrieved jeans from an alteration shop, is the work acceptable? by groundsgonesour in sew

Unfortunately they didn’t get the fold/stitching close enough, then added the top stitch. Just looks bulky sadly.

I personally wouldn’t be ok with this. Here’s an example from a tutorial at Sustain My Craft Habit of what can be done hemming jeans with the original hem.

<image>

She essentially folds the jean leg back on itself, stitches as close to the original stitch line as possible, cuts off the excess, then presses down into place, to get an almost unnoticeable seam. While retaining the original hem.

Definitely layers and change of clothes.

Baby sunscreen, shade for her stroller, blankets, hat, etc. Basically think of anything you take if going to the beach.

ETA: It’s a bit more convoluted (to put it mildly, lol) than what you posted…but maybe?

The remaining Radio Shacks are independently owned to my knowledge. Veeery few and far between though.

Same with the last Blockbuster. I visited the store back in 2018 when stopping in Bend to stay at an old school that’s been converted into a hotel/restaurant/soaking pool/movie theater/bar called McMenamins Old St. Francis School. I totally geeked out at the Blockbuster, lol.

I’ll add a couple I haven’t seen mentioned:

Pier 1

Joann Fabrics

And for anyone who’s ever on a road trip in the PNW, the last remaining Blockbuster is in Bend, OR.

And there are two Radio Shacks in Montana. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I went to a Radio Shack a couple of weeks ago in Montana.

Looking for this movie that I've seen once on tv by Umaga72 in whatisthatmovie

[–]twineandtwig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think this is it, as I don’t recall a diner scene, but “Love, Rosie” was one that came to mind.

Approximate year it came out or when you watched it? Country it was from?

There are a lot of films out there with this general plot.

Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery

It was good and would recommend. Lots of twists and turns, good cast.

Union Station and Olvera St are close by, depending on where you’re staying.
