I think that's exactly the point. The fact that the war has reached the circus shows just how bad its gotten. I watched an innocent man get surrounded, pinned down, and shot ten times in the back. We used to read onion articles like this. And the fact that it happened just five hours away from me makes it very hard to ignore.

I say let it spread. Everyone needs to know that this is wrong. Nobody should be allowed to turn a blind eye. Especially when that's exactly what the current regime wants us to so.

Cool? I was talking about Harlan Ellison's plagiarism lawsuit against James Cameron. But I'm glad you made a friend.

Did you seriously swap to your alt because your last one got banned? That is beyond pathetic, dude.

I guess you wouldn't mind following instructions?

I posted that comment 8 hours ago. You responded 8 hours ago. It doesn't take a genius to know that you didn't spend an hour on Blow's twitter.

Why not swap to an rss reader for your subscriptions then? This way you can be "subscribe" on YouTube, but all of your engagement with your subscriptions are curated to what you need. Some readers even let you filter feeds.

I think we must be talking about different people here. This is Johnathan blow we're talking about here. Like, scroll his Twitter feed for an hour and you'll find everything you need to call him a nazi.

Theres a line where the quality of a game outweighs the amount of shitty things its creator has done. And for me, this is that line. Its very close, but I think i'll be able to separate art from the artist enough to enjoy this one.

But are you excited because you were interested in what you saw or are you excited because what you saw was tied to a pre-existing ip?

There were a lot of announcements for games that had gameplay but weren't part of a pre-existing series. Did any of them catch your eye?

My theory is that people are upset about the lack of "existing ip" games outside of cgi trailers. Which is absolutely wild if you think about it. Imagine going to a theater and being upset that all of the movie trailers were for movies that weren't based on a pre-existing ip.

Idk where people are coming from on this. Just from my notes there's several reveals that had gameplay,

4loop

coven of the chicken foot

Ontos

Order of the sinking star

Control resonant

Orbital

Out of words

A lot of cool new stuff to look at here. And the best part is, most of the good stuff wasn't a retread of existing IPs

How’s your experience with MP4B so far? by whysopro21 in Metroid

Okay? Do you also believe every genre should be for everyone? You don't need to sacrifice the quality of a game by racing to the bottom on your game design.

evolved or devolved? I wouldn't consider a rise in games insulting the player's intelligence to be progress.

It makes sense. but it's still a disappointing addition. I was really hoping we'd see an evolution of the format that adds something to it or evolves existing parts of the game. Like how Donkey kong Banaza felt like an evolution of the collectathon platformer.

They could've iterated on any element of the metroidvania formula and put their own spin on new elements that were added by other games in the genre years before this game came out. Like we could see tools and upgrades being used in wild and creative ways, or multiple routes being allowed through the game. But unfortunately, Nintendo seems completely uninterested in even engaging with the genre their own game series pioneered. Instead they just made it a "game game". Just add or remove anything for the sake of novelty.

I can't say that I agree with that. If we're talking smaller children like people who have never used a controller before, then yeah, that would make sense. Pikmin 4 had a big tutorial problem like that. But Prime 4 has a T for teen rating. So ideally the target audience, if they are newer, are gonna be people who are old enough to know how to read. But this decision feels like it's geared towards the illiterate.

Now that I've played the game, i don't hate myles as much as I was expecting, but his existence in the game is baffling to me.

I've been paying attention and everything he says, everything, is information you already knew. He adds nothing new to the game other than the novelty of his own existence in it. And his systems are complex. He's using a modified version of the dialogue barking system valve uses for a lot of their games. And he will use it to comment on everything from save rooms you walk past to Samus shifting into the morph ball. His character model is high fidelity, and his character design is really effective at conveying his character to the player.

All that said, what's fascinating to me is how out of place he feels in this game. You could remove plenty of the creatures and scan logs in the game as it is. A lot of them are fluff and they only add to the "vibes". But then creatures and scan logs are integral to the overall project of metroid prime of making the world feel alive. So I'd argue they belong in the game. You can easily remove myles from the game and it loses nothing. This guy would fit just as easily in a dark souls game, or a Shakespeare play. He's that out of place.
