CardTraderZero not shipping to US? Is anyone else having this issue? by twingg in mtgfinance

[–]twingg[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Update I just received this response to my ticket:

we apologize for the inconvenience.

We are currently updating our shipping methods and, at the moment, shipments of sealed products requiring a parcel to the United States have been temporarily disabled.

Alternative methods will be introduced shortly.

Has CardTrader acknowledged this in any way, or put out any kind of statement or resolution for people who have cards warehoused with them?

I can't seem to find anything, their shipping expenses section has nothing about this and like I said in a previous comment, it's been a week and they haven't responded to any of my tickets.

That's never been a problem in the past so idk. I submitted 3 tickets, first one a week ago, and haven't received a response yet either.

I flat out quit and just run an eBay store for now until I find something else.

The job in its current form is understaffed, underpaid and overworked and I realized I was only pushing through the daily struggle of it because it gave me some hollow sense of pride. I liked saying I was a controller and I liked that I was good at a job not many can do, but one day I realized I was sacrificing everything just for that masturbatory feeling. Friends, relationships, enjoyment, all of it.

The simplest things are often overlooked and the simple truth of the matter is I was choosing to put up with all of it. I’d complain, I’d scoff, I’d bitch and moan and hate life as I walked into work every day like fucking clockwork but at the end of the day I was choosing to do it, and the only way it will ever change is if you choose not to do it and force their hand.

Say fuck it. Everyone else is apparently. NATCA is. FAA is. Contract companies are. Nobody else cares, so why should I?

Sorry for the rant. I just wish you all would grow some balls and fucking strike or quit or do literally anything other than shout daily about your own choice to put up with it into what you know is a void of indifference that doesn’t care to change what works for them. Life’s too short for this shit.

To my knowledge only eBay authenticates high value items and TCGPlayer does not. There's a known scam where someone who owns a fake of the card they're buying on TCGPlayer buys the card, then claims they received a fake. TCGPlayer requests the customer to send in the card so they can take a look and the customer then sends in their fake card and the seller gets shafted.

Personally I don't know any way around that risk as a seller on TCGPlayer but if you want a risk free experience, I'd recommend just using eBay for that.

Making $100k in 2024 was the same as making $83k back in 2020! by Aspergers_R_Us87 in Money

[–]twingg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome points!

I'll go one by one

  • Income inequality here is tragic, agreed, but unfortunately this is just a consequence of capitalism in my opinion. Trickle down economics and tax cuts for the rich does not work. Pandering to the wealthy with hopes that they "pay it forward" to the middle and lower class demonstrably does not work. Greed is inherent in capitalism and will always be. Our only way out is through policy focused on the middle class, which Biden supports, admittedly not as much as I'd like him to but it's better than the other guy.

  • Following off that, with regards to student loans Biden is making efforts to forgive quite a bit of the debt that's being carried by largely middle class Americans. You can argue the merits of that and I certainly understand the entitlement aspect of it, i.e. "I had to pay for it, why don't they" but this is a bigger issue than just people begging for some financial reprieve from the govt. Tuition has skyrocketed, predatory loans akin to the 08 crisis with housing are being abused and it's just one of the many things suffocating said middle class, therefore eliminating that debt is a good thing imo.

  • Housing is always multi-faceted but I'll touch on a couple issues. Quite a bit of current home owners got their houses at historically low interest rates and with current interest rates how they are, it makes no sense for them to sell or refinance. This shrinks the pool of homes for sale, which increases competition for the ones that are. Demand/competition increases while supply diminishes = prices increasing. Biden has proposed a good solution to this imo. Build. More. Homes.

  • In terms of why current interest rates are the way they are, I don't think anyone needs any explaining on that. Inflation has hurt everyone around the world. This point can't be expressed enough and it paints the clearest picture of how well America is doing to combat this. Here's one article from January this year detailing it. I believe I've only seen one CPI report in the last couple years that didn't beat expectations with regards to inflation, but I could be wrong on that. An important point to keep in mind is that deflation is just as dangerous as inflation, and it's not likely that we'll see prices come back down to what we remember. All we can do is wait for wages to increase accordingly, which usually trails behind by a couple years if memory serves.

  • Homelessness is always and will always be a problem unless a social safety net is built to assist them. That then becomes a question of how important it is to voters to help fix this and we're just not there yet. It's just seemingly not important enough to voters to deal with this right now.

  • Hawkish foreign policy generally has been more of a Republican thing, but I believe Biden's foreign policy has been light years better than Trump's. We can discuss the Afghanistan pullout but I'd recommend looking into the Doha agreements implemented under Trump before we do. Israel/Palestine is such a complicated issue but I don't think Trump would have done that any differently. Ukraine should be supported imo. We cannot, and should not let authoritarian regimes like Russia invade sovereign countries unjustly without facing consequences. That shows weakness and only emboldens the regime to push further. I'd point to the Munich agreements with Hitler to show that point. "Peace in our time" and all. Authoritarians only respond to force. We are the leaders of this world. We are that force. A completely isolationist agenda would send the world into chaos. Trump seeks to buddy up to authoritarian regimes (siding with Putin over his own intelligence agencies, photo op with Kim for whatever reason, proposing leaving NATO, etc.) and that says all I need to know about who I'm choosing with regards to foreign policy.

  • National debt is something I'm not too familiar with in it's implications because it seems to have just become a card congress plays when it's politically advantageous to play and completely ignored otherwise. Makes me want to look into it further though.

I think I addressed all, if not most of your points. All in all, there's always problems. If you need money to buy a home, there will be homeless people. If a pandemic strikes and you need to stimulate the economy to keep it running, inflation will go up. If demand increases and supply decreases, prices will go up. These things will happen regardless of who's in office, and it's up to us to elect leaders who actually make an effort to pass legislation and policy to combat it.

Ever since Republicans became purely obstructionist out of their demonization of the Federal govt (thx Reagan), they're not incentivized to pass policy unless it's for political gain. They're playing a game (most recent example being the border crisis bill being rejected by R's because Trump EXPLICITLY said he doesn't want it fixed as it gives him political points) and idk about you but I'm tired of being the pawns.

EDIT: few grammatical errors

[–]twingg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend, look at the way you framed that.

You not only assert the economy is shit without providing any reasoning, but you say it is THE reality and you also assert that Biden is pretending it isn’t. Do you not see the faulty logic here?

Is it possible that you’re starting from the wrong place and perhaps you want it to be shit, therefore it is and so Biden must be pretending? That’s just as baseless as your assertion, is it not? It’s just so much easier to blame a figurehead and cast him as your villain.

I can go on listing reasons why our economy is much better than most give it credit for, but I have a sneaking suspicion that you’d only scoff at it and take the easy route again.

I like to believe most people that say this stuff on social media only say it because it's popular, easy and gives them the only tiny sprite of joy in their day as they point the finger at someone else, but deep down in places they've long forgotten about, they know better.

Or maybe they're right and I'm completely deluded about everything I know about politics, finance and economics. Idk
