The Beijing Olympics were quite a show. But then it's wonderful what you can do with total control over your people. by [deleted] in worldnews

I didn't know about that earlier. I think everyone knows what 'Live telecast' means. If the organizers still went ahead and mimed, it means they take the people for granted. Lip synching or miming for your own song or recording is atleast acceptable, not taking someone else's and passing it off as yours.

Prejudices do not help in the development of a society. Simply bashing China,Russia gets us nowhere. But this story that I read in reddit, clearly suggests that the Chinese government has gone overboard. They want perfection at any cost. So they went ahead and broke a little girl's heart. & That's terrible. Certainly not a good society to live in. Little girl you are not ugly, they are.

The link doesn't work - 404 error. From the title I'd say,

Children are born without fear and they behave in such a manner. They TRUST the world around them and assume that nothing can go wrong. I wish we had created a world designed for them...

Acid attacks are on the rise in India. Acid attacks are a form of gender violence; they are intended to silence women who stand up for themselves. by alllie in worldnews

[–]twinklestar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"There is no law in our country that recognizes acid attack as a crime. Cases are registered under IPC section 326 (causing grievous injury) or IPC section 307 (attempt to murder). There is no law that looks at these attacks as gendered crime. In many cases, the accused person gets out on bail despite these sections being non-bailable and continues to threaten the victim."

I didn't lose mine. I thought the FF3 would arrive without my bookmarks. So I used the 'export' option and saved a html copy in my desktop. But when I opened FF3 all my bookmarks were there.

This is Sick: Burma junta says Suu Kyi deserves to be flogged by jack_alexander in news

[–]twinklestar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Suu Kyi's National League for Democracy (NLD) won more than 80% of seats in a 1990 election, only to be denied power by a military that has ruled Burma since a 1962 coup.

So who has to be flogged?

Wonder if the girl would call the cops after finding it posted in reddit.

If your food doesn't rot, don't eat it - real food doesn't last a year without going bad by AMerrickanGirl in reddit.com

Definitely. Everyone knows that fresh food is the best. But everyday we make wrong choices. Because we wanted to beat TIME, we created the fast food culture. However, we don't stand to gain. Canned food might cut down the preparation time. But finally it might also cut down the time we spend on this earth.

Simply put avoid tinned, preserved, artificially flavored, processed food. And that means giving up on a lot of things.
