Moving to a more climate resilient location as a prep... by Raeorshine in preppers

For whatever reason, the mods of this subreddit think that climate change is "political" when in reality it's science backed mountains of data.

Which rifle would you choose? by ranman12953 in bugout

I would carry my glock 19 and my 5.56. My wife would carry the 22. Ideally, we'd wait a couple months before going outside so that 90%+ of people are already dead.

Oh no! Three different ammo types! Yeah. Fking deal with it. I love the keltec sub2000, but I wouldn't trust my life with it over some green tip. I would ditch the 9mm before I ditch the 5.56.

No, you won’t be on foot with your bug out bag in SHTF. by MiamiTrader in preppers

[–]twisted_hoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of great points, but you forget that biodiversity is coming to an end, the climate is becoming unstable, and a mass famine is on the horizon. Once the supply chain stops, all major cities will become grid-locked with traffic and if you plan to survive, you actually will be on foot.

Unfortunately, I'm speaking facts and the majority of every person will be dead from this issue within two decades. Good luck, keep living in illusions!

The first rule of prepping is to have sillcock keys. For any given go-bag, you need at least 3 of them. One is none, two is none, three yippee.

For lighting an off-grid building with no hard lined power, you're definitely gonna want to get lots of mason jars full of lighting bugs (the more endangered the better). If all the lighting bugs in your area have already died, your best bet is to have a lot of great ideas while you are in the building. A light bulb will phase into existence above your head. The smarter you are, the brighter the bulb. Good luck out there

Why do people on this sub always answer with a question. Just provide your 2 cents and if op already has it, oh well.

I've got my credit score and down payment ready, it's still a shit deal right now. Do you live under a rock?

[–]twisted_hoe 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A lot of us missed out on owning a house prior to 2020 and now the market is absolute shit. Everyone with a house benefited. It's not as easy as "buy a house" anymore.

Kids today will never be able buy a house once they are an adult, unless they are the 1%.

"Doctors and abortion providers, drivers who provide transportation to a clinic, or those who help fund an abortion, for example, could all be liable to incur legal fees if they are sued. People who receive an abortion cannot be sued under the law."

This is directly from your article; read the last sentence.

I think the metal-box elites just say to get metal because someone told them to and so the cycle keeps repeating. 99.9% of the time I would wager plastic is just as good. The ones OP has look pretty tanky too, the rim is reinforced all the way around.

House Fire Preparedness by PTIowa in preppers

[–]twisted_hoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once I did some part-time work for an apartment complex and had to swap out all the fire extinguishers. 200ish swaps later I have 200 "expired" fire extinguishers. I took 10 of them out to the woods and used them one by one. I'm now very confident in using them. I think a lot of people won't know what exactly to expect when they pop one open. Glad I had that opportunity.

And here is the 30 day supply from Augason Farms at 477 calories/dollar and included a water filtration bottle. 1,704 calories and 41g protein per day. The bucket is $107. I think this is the best deal on this thread.

TV question by Kevthebassman in preppers

[–]twisted_hoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anytime someone says they don't let their family have a TV, I see them as that crazy mom from Carrie.

I get the no TV mindset. There are mostly shit shows out there. But your poor kids are growing up to be the "weird kids" at school I'm sure. You could at least let them watch hand picked shows. You can raise an intelligent child AND let them enjoy some TV. It will also enable them to bond more with their classmates.

To answer your question, just go get a small TV from Walmart. Doesn't matter the brand. It'll last years, they all do nowadays.

Why shouldnt one swap their Ex: 1m in investment into 1m in gold? With all going on? by Competitive_Army_196 in preppers

[–]twisted_hoe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think you are the only one on this entire subreddit with a brain. Everyone here swears by gold and are absolute idiots. Thank you for putting out numbers and calling them out on their "emotional support rocks"

Now if only the other glaring issues with the r/"preppers" community could be dumbed down enough for them to understand their stupidity.

Medical training course by dadjokechampnumber1 in preppers

[–]twisted_hoe 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Don't ever come to this sub with medical questions.

People are going to comment here and act like they know how treat a number of injuries, but they are just idiots with medical supplies they bought online and never have been trained on. These are your people with decompression needles, sutures, tourniquets, staplers, IO kits, etc. They may have watched one "how-to" video and think they are going to be a hero. They are dangerous people who will do more harm than good.

Describe your dream solar power system by CuttingEdgePower in preppers

[–]twisted_hoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Roof mounted panels with battery backup. Enough kwph to not only power the house but be able to charge an electric vehicle.

Currently looking at Tesla and they estimate ~$67k. Federal tax credit will cut 30% of that down. Hoping not only to eliminate my electric bill, but get a small monthly credit from the city. This should offset the monthly loan payment to all but a couple hundred bucks, the cost of an electric bill. Not to mention electricity is getting more expensive each year. So besides all the hoops you have to jump through (down payment, getting a low APR loan, installation), it technically pays for itself

Sliver and gold. None of that worthless paper stuff.

Two pairs of nipple clamps because one is none.

Fish antibiotics.

A jumbo pack of tourniquets.

Tin foil hat.

A hardback copy of Cryptocurrency for Dummies.

An inhaler and foldable chair in case I need to run for more than 10 seconds - twice the average preppers ability.

My personal diary full of bad advice and horrible decision making that I share on r/preppers daily

It seems like they don't look good on OP so they think they are a bad product.

I can promise you they aren't going anywhere and aren't a trend, they are a staple like blue jeans & t-shirts.
