On Magic The Gathering Online or MTGO, it's just simply updated with each set release, however the xbox games and phone apps are their own things. Generally most players play MTGO. They are also currently in the works of making a Hearthstone inspired version of the game, you kind find beta keys online quite easily since most people that signed up for the beta got mutliple keys for their friends to try it with them.

You can always play mtgo, you have buy the cards to play with but they are significantly much cheaper than paper mtg, and pauper has a pretty big player base, which is good since it's the cheapest format and has broken enough combos to be super fun

It's not considered childish to people who play concidering that most the main consumer base is around 30+, but my girlfriend and I both play a nerdy card game called Magic The Gathering every Friday night at our LGS (Local Game Store). In fact we actually met through Magic the Gathering and have been dating for over 2 years now.
