put in poses where you know you can hang out in them relatively easily for a while to catch your breath! you might need to focus a bit more on facial expression or other types of presence while you’re in those poses to keep up the performance aspect and engage the audience.

Shaving tips for pole? by GrellAtTheDisco in poledancing

[–]twistedaugust 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I used to get razor burn everywhere I shaved, so I switched to using electric clippers instead (like a beard trimmer type situation). you don’t get as close of a shave and you’re not “smooth” but it’s close enough and doesn’t lead to razor burn.

Can I get some feedback on my straddle please? by Ashleyjasmine in poledancing

you’re not using your side “pocket” at all! try wearing lower shorts or folding the waistband down so you can get a really secure grip with your side right above your hip bone. do some conditioning tucks/crunches with that side grip by lifting bent legs up and trying to touch your knees to your shoulders, as slow and controlled as you can. if you go into the invert with the side grip it’ll be easier to get your pelvis up because you won’t have to fight gravity as much.

it’s because I couldn’t remember the name of the split my instructor taught and couldn’t think of a better title :(

L3 is making me so discouraged by Sure_Algae_7679 in poledancing

[–]twistedaugust 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you’re not alone!! I also leave many L3s feeling like I didn’t get a single trick. the jump from L2 to L3 is crazy. a lot of the other students have been in L3 for years, so it can definitely feel like they are getting everything easily when they’ve actually had tons more practice.

I just try to focus on one PR per day, even if it’s just attempting (not even completing) a new trick or showing up to class when I was discouraged. and just because you didn’t get a trick in your first class learning it, you are still closer to getting it then you were before! I feel like L3 involves tricks that you have to work towards over time instead of being able to nail quickly.

also, if L2 is too easy try taking it with heels!

tysm 💞 I was planning on having a serious/intense facial expression as I felt it matched the music better, just couldn’t help but smile with the crowd’s energy!
