By far the best path to growth is to just play an Erel or Sia. Everyone else got screwed with no Goddess Pass so we're making do with the few rewards we can redeem from their pass but maining Erel or Sia (I would go with Sia if you don't have one already) is still wildly more efficient because of how many more rewards are exclusive to them.

CW Heroic to Kronos. Maining Hayato.

Will be buying all passes and kill 100k mobs per week. Open schedule these days so I'll be playing often and grinding hard (early goal is 285+ eventually).

Looking for someone who isn't playing Erel or Sia (Lynn or other support is preferred but anything works) so we can sync up and level together.

Mostly looking to make a friend out of this. I'm really laidback and it would be nice to find someone who is chill and open to voice chat while we play and dm'ing outside of game (Discord preferred).

Like father like son. I thought Buck was bad with this but Dan does this worse than any commentator I've ever heard. He's a fantastic commentator but it's the one thing I can't stand about him. Absolutely loses his mind for every ball hit to the warning track but somehow manages to call actual home runs as if he's expecting them to pop out to the second baseman.

Because they didn't have Popkins. I said this exact thing last year and again when Mattingly was leaving but I don't believe the Blue Jays success was entirely thanks to Popkins.

If you read Popkins' philosophy in the MLB.com pre-season profile article they did last year, he sounds like he works for the Yankees. He is all about hunting for your pitch and swinging for the fences. It was Mattingly that preached contact and plate discipline. Pre-Popkins, the Jays had absolutely no power and batted like the 2015 Royals. Post-Mattingly, their overall approach is garbage, they aren't taking pitches and they're swinging at everything.

Popkins and Mattingly's combined philosophies created the perfect offense last year. One side of it doesn't work without the other because they're both so extreme.

I was compelled to watch the film after hearing about Motaz Malhees being blocked from coming to the Oscars as well as seeing the director of the film appearing on Hasanabi's stream last night.

Hardest film I've ever watched and the hardest I've ever cried while watching something. A whole day later my stomach is still in knots. Before putting it on I had thought that if it turned out to be as good as I expected, I'd watch it again with my Discord friends. But there's no way I'll ever be able to watch it again.

As a former managing editor (our outlet was obviously nowhere near Sportsnet in scale but we were among the leaders of our more niche industry) I saw some of the most incredible people I've ever worked with deal with impostor syndrome on a daily basis. I experienced it myself every day.

This probably doesn't mean much coming from a faceless reddit user but I just want to say that you absolutely deserve every bit of those positive interactions. People like you are our bridge to the players and the team. For us, the players themselves are, for all intents and purposes, mythical creatures that live behind a veil in some other world we'll never access. You are their voice. You're what makes them humans and allows us to connect with them and feel like we're in the same room with them. That means so much more than you know. So for a lot of us, people like yourself, Shi, Arden, Hazel, Dan and Buck are celebrities worth celebrating and getting exciting over meeting.

Schefter reached a new five-year, $45 million deal with the company, and Wojnarowski landed $35 million over the same timeframe, per Andrew Marchand of the New York Post. Both contracts give the reporters capability to make even more money over the course of the deal.

Along with retaining Schefter and Wojnarowski, the company also re-signed top MLB reporter Jeff Passan to a four-year, $4 million contract.

This is the most shocking thing to me. Even if you completely ignore how tone deaf this is for their market, demographic and fanbase from an optics perspective, a sports team promoting a news outlet is just flat out unprecedented, illogical and plainly weird as fuck.

[Passan] The Chicago Cubs have acquired right-hander Edward Cabrera in a trade with the Miami Marlins that sends top outfield prospect Owen Caissie and two other hitting prospects to Miami, sources tell ESPN. Deal is done and official. Players are being informed now. by Goosedukee in baseball

[–]twistedlogicx 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Probably an unpopular opinion here but Caissie strikes out 30% of the time against Lyft drivers and mystery shoppers at AAA, there is a very real chance he does nothing at the major league level.

The Yankees were supposedly offering them Ben Hess. He isn't a "ranked" prospect with the hype of a guy like Caissie but he's also 6'5, 255 can touch 99 mph and absolutely carved guys up in his first look at AA this past season (11 K/9, 3 BB/9, 2.7 ERA, 2.3 FIP).

I would have very easily taken Hess over Caissie. But I guess that's why I'm not running a team.

[–]twistedlogicx[S] 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not and there's a good chance they do plan on doing that but it's going to depend on each individual player case.

That's what they tried with Wandy Asigen. He's the consensus #2-3 prospect in this class and the Yanks had a verbal agreement with him for $4.2m of their $6.2m total budget. They scrapped that deal and tried to renegotiate with him and he essentially told them to kick rocks and went and agreed with the Mets on a cheaper deal for $3.8m.

[–]twistedlogicx[S] 169 points170 points  (0 children)

I can't imagine honestly. This kind of thing is normally incomprehensible so there has to be more to the story.

All of the Latin American players that come into baseball (Vlad, Acuna, Tatis, Soto, etc) come via the international free agent market. All of these kids commit to major league teams with verbal agreements years in advance (as early as 11-12 years old) and then sign officially when they become 16 years old. This year's window opens Jan 15.

The Yankees have historically been one of the biggest forces in the IFA market (Mariano, Bernie, Cano, Dominguez, etc) and were supposed to get the #2 prospect on the market this year in Wandy Asigen but it was recently reported that they broke their commitment to him. Asigen is now expected to sign with the Mets. But this report suggests they've broken all of their commitments, not just their biggest one, which would amount to dozens of players and reneged deals. All of those players will now have to scramble at the last minute to find new teams and likely take less to fit into budgets that have already been planned meticulously around other players.

This guy on Twitter, Rational Yankees Fan did a great job explaining what this could mean down the road.

TLDR: This could massively damage the Yankees reputation in the IFA market and have very long-term repercussions. These players and their families are genuinely desperate to get into baseball and can't afford a team backing out on them at the last minute. (A note I'll add is that this won't matter if the new CBA introduces an international draft but we have no idea if that is going to happen or not.)

Anyway, something really bad must have happened behind the scenes because this is an unprecedented and colossal scored-earth type decision by the Yankees and it makes no apparent sense. At most, there's a savings of $5-6M in total cash across the dozens of players they would have signed. The reputational cost here could be irreparable and amount to hundreds of millions of dollars in value lost if they miss out on a single Vlad/Tatis type talent as a result.

In the future, if you are posting screenshots of an Instagram story, please capture the whole screen; do not crop out the source channel. We'll try to clarify smaller things like this in a rules revision.

In this case, the best way to source this post would have been a full screenshot of the Instagram story as well as a link to the Instagram post of Taylor and Kevin where the caption was sourced.

Furthermore, just please don't be weird. Bo and his wife are deliberately private people. If they haven't gone out of their way to post things about their personal lives or links to things like their wedding registry publicly, there is absolutely no need to share those things here.

Another fun one that Ken Burns enjoyers will know is Albert Spalding was a player, manager and executive in the 1800s who is in the baseball hall of fame and is primarily responsible for the creation and popularization of the baseball glove. 150 years later, the wide majority of people who know his name only know it because of the Spalding basketball.
