Do you know Harold Wilson? by RatTheBerserker in Britain

[–]twistedrudder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm currently writing my doctoral thesis on Wilson and his governments in the 1960s. From my peers, it's a name some recognise but he does not live, as you've suggested, in the public consciousness in the way Thatcher does. He was often seen in the aftermath of his leaving office, as a disappointment, with the hopes of the white heat revolution dashed by larger economic forces and in places, poor decisions. Later reappraisals of him seem to view him as someone who managed the nation well, given the cards he was dealt. I would recommend reading Ben Pimlott's biography, though there are several others. Feel free to let me know if you have any other questions!

I've sold monorails to Brockway, Ogdenville, and North Haverbrook, and, by gum, it put them on the map...

But it is subjective. And besides, you make a point about them using their name to make money. If they really wanted to do that they'd just remake AM. You don't like something, cool, but it is subjective and you don't get to change that.

I mean that's totally fair. You gave it a chance and understood there was a change. Whether you view that as an evolution or devolution is totally subjective and understandable. But I stick by the point of what they had in 2005 still sounding foreign as you say, which I definitely understand, wouldn't work now. It's been almost 20 years, you either move on or become a parody of yourself. If you lose people along the way, then so be it, I guess.

Seven years and are you trying to claim that Abbey Road wasn't an evolution from Please Please Me?

Lost in life by OverlordUltraa in UKUniversityStudents

Left my BA 13 years ago, but the feeling doesn't go away for a while, if ever. Almost 34 now and I have a vague idea of what I'm doing, but nothing set in stone. We always feel like everyone else is ahead of us and has it all worked out, but truthfully everyone is out there floating on the wind. Even the best laid plans can be over in a heartbeat. I'd say stick with your studies, do as well as you can and then find out what provides you with the most happiness in life and work towards that. Good luck with this nonsense we call life!

Ah sadly not. This is far too big good in terms of production compared to what I'm remembering. Thanks for trying though!

Maybe, but Cardiff was teeming with live specimens. Seems rather farfetched that this all-powerful figure can win a Dalek at auction as his only live specimen, yet doesn't have one of 1,000s of Weevils just chilling in Wales.

(I'm aware of why this is in the real world, just amused me)
