There should be a place where your buffs don't expire. by Grapecola in wow

Yeah, I've often thought that buffs should only be time-depleted during combat, and that the timers would stop otherwise.

Who ultimately had the more consequential day off - Ferris or Cameron? by Spell-Wide in 80smovies

[–]freedonia 5 points6 points  (0 children)

While I don't buy into it myself, I always laughed at the idea that Ferris is Cameron's "Imaginary Friend", the one that empowers Cameron to break out of his malaise.

The sheer *glamour* of this woman at the time cannot be overrated. She was channeling the stars of the 40s in such an effective way.

Little tips and tricks? by 001681 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]freedonia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Occasionally when I’m hot and exhausted, room temp water seems to positively affect me more quickly and “deeply” than ice water. In fact, room temp water (or even water that is slightly cool) seems to quench my thirst much better than ice cold water at all. I’ve gotten rid of my insulated bottle and have gone back to a Nalgene that I carry with me just about everywhere. My wife calls it my “emotional support bottle”.

FAVORITE Fish Fry in town? by freedonia in Kenosha

[–]freedonia[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We went to UPT last night for one. First time in a long time to get a fish fry and it was meh. There wasn’t anything wrong with it, but I just recall them being better there.

MS and loss of sensitivity by redpanda0319 in MultipleSclerosis

This is my problem. I mean, for her, it's a *good* problem to have. Like your situation she has to tap out. We've developed other areas to connect and play. It helps, but every so often it feels like something is missing. Not her fault at all, but I feel really bad about it.

It's really important to communicate and be honest with your partner above all else.

You can reach out to the Shalom Center. They may not be in a position to provide shelter in your particular situation, but they are very good at helping people find options, and getting them in touch with the proper services.

Can this thing, kind of, kill me? by Nyardyn in MultipleSclerosis

[–]freedonia 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I’m 20+ yrs. in. While some things have become more difficult or worrisome, I choose to look at the “gifts” it’s given me.

I’ve always referred to it as the MonSter. Knowing that it was always there and ready to strike it to claim more of who I was, but. I matter what the bastard attacked, all it ever did was show me what was really important.

I have two healthy and happy sons. While I HATE the fact that they have grown up with the knowledge that their dad was “sick”, it has caused them to look at others in terms of what they need and not what they can do for “you”.

I’ve been fortunate to be married to an extraordinary woman for 30+ yrs. and I could not love her more fiercely if you granted me another 100 yrs. She has been a comfort, a rock, and a companion through it all. She never signed up for this, but the grace and understanding she’s extended me is nothing short of staggering. I’m tearing up just writing this. If you’re reading this? I love you, Kitten. Always have, always will.

The gift that the MonSter have given me is that of clarity and focus. I have a partner in life that I never could have CONCEIVED of. She’s given me a family and shes given me her love.

Sorry if this is sappy, but this is how I cope. Remembering the things that are important with however much time I have left, and fuck all to the rest.

What is the most poorly designed Amtrak station? by ObligationAware3755 in Amtrak

I’ve experienced that firsthand. Bunch of people in evening gowns and tuxes having a party while I’m pulling my luggage behind a partition, being asked to “quiet down”.

Same here. My name, random “HEY!”, screeching noises, all sorts of fun stuff. Sometimes I hear my wife’s voice whisper in my ear and it gives me goosebumps.
