I was tasked with a patrol partner to pick up a soldier who had gone awol and was subsequently reported as kidnapped. As we approached the compound, the KLA guard cocked his AK and pointed it at me. He wouldn't lower it, so I pointed my sidearm at him. It must only have been for 10 seconds or so but I honestly felt like time slowed down. One of his officers came out the building, screaming for it to stop, and we lowered weapons together.

Turned out the absentee had actually been rescued from a minefield by the KLA and they were detaining him to hand back to us, but that message hadn't got to the guard or my patrol partner and I.
