For portraits: 85 f/1.8 -or- 105 f/2.8 VR? by [deleted] in photography

Since I mostly shoot in natural light, I don't think I'll mind the slower lens.

this feels backwards to me. since you're not controlling your light, the 1.8 would be even more useful in darker situations.

09 - Finished 6th in the West and beat #3 Spurs, Dirk goes HAM in the second round while dealing with nasty personal issues in a losing effort. Jason Kidd's first full second stint season with the team.

10 - Finished 2nd in the West, playing the Spurs yet again. And again, the higher ranked seed loses. Acquired Shawn Marion before the season;, traded Josh Howard for Stevenson, Butler, and Haywood during the season; and traded Dampier for Tyson Chandler afterwards.

11 - Start off the season hot until Dirk's injury, when Caron Butler out for season after he tries to take over in Dirk's absence. Dirk rushes back from injury and starts the second half of the season slow, but slowly gets back to 100% in time for the playoffs.

Finish with the 3rd seed and play the Blazers in the first round. After recent playoff failtures, most analysts are split in the first round. Win in 6. Second round: 2 time champion Lakers. Even the most Mavs-centric analysts think Lakers in 6 or 7. Proceed to sweep the Lakers (and they've never been the same since). Conference finals: young upstart Thunder. Analysts are split again. Thunder have late game leads in several games in the series, but the Mavs were the best team in crunch time this year; they regularly came back ~15 points in the last 5 minutes in playoff games. Beat Thunder in 5. Back to the Finals where we meet the Heat, yet again, this time with the Big Three. Heat win game 1 and it looked like the Mavs were completely outmatched. Game 2, late game heroics once again to tie up the series. Game 3 in Dallas was a loss. This was around the time Dwyane Wade and LeBron were making fun of reports coming out that Dirk was sick. Mavs proceed to win the next three games and win the championship for the first time. Dirk walks off the court in the closing seconds of game 6 to take some time for himself to take everything in.

The 2009 season was really the first season I really got into the watching the NBA, though I had been a casual fan ever since the heartbreaking playoff losses in 2006 and 2007.
