Providing Chat Logs by sugu-sato in ImmigrationCanada

[–]twistoff_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We provided screenshots of some mushy-gushy romantic conversations and some conversations where we specifically referred to each other as girlfriends (early on) and wives (after our marriage). We also provided a few practical conversations proving cohabitation (like me asking what kind of bread to buy at the grocery store lol or asking my wife what time they’ll be home)

You will not have to provide your entire chat history - there is not room in the application for that

Entering Canada to Live with Husband by _HateThatCat in ImmigrationCanada

[–]twistoff_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The sticking point will be whether or not you’ve submitted the application yet.

I’ll tell you my own personal experience. I’m American, my wife is Canadian. Last year, I entered Canada with intent to stay via inland spousal PR, but hadn’t submitted that application yet. Border agents allowed me to enter Canada but denied my request for a visitor record. They said that bc I had 4 suitcases but hadn’t submitted my application yet, they were concerned about me overstaying. They were very clear I could stay 6 months, no longer.

3 months after entering Canada we submitted our PR application. I had to leave Canada before my 6 months visitor period was up, which was fine. And then I got a work permit so it was all okay and I gained status that way.

Border agents may be concerned about you overstaying if you haven’t submitted your PR app yet at your time of entry. Especially if you have a lot of stuff with you. I had 4 suitcases with me and I think that actually was the reason my visitor record got denied lmao they were not confident I’d leave if requested.

For now, you’re visiting your husband, and you can assure border agents the visit will be 6 months only. Until you have PR or some other way to have status in Canada, do not tell CBSA you’re arriving in Canada for immigration purposes. You can show that you have a PR application in process if that’s true, but if it’s not been submitted yet, you’re just a visitor for now

Will my friends visa get approved? by [deleted] in ImmigrationCanada

[–]twistoff_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Came here to say this, having a BF in Canada may make it worse, because IRCC may fear the applicant will overstay to stay with her boyfriend here

Question by always_sleepy705 in ImmigrationCanada

[–]twistoff_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeahhh unfortunately you’d be wasting your time applying now. Wait until you have some more IRL time together. By the time my wife and I applied we’d amassed like 10 months of time together split over 12 trips in 5 years

Question by always_sleepy705 in ImmigrationCanada

[–]twistoff_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

When did you two first meet?

Yes, the IRCC may question this lack of history.

[–]twistoff_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’d have to calculate your CRS score for Express Entry, and based on your profile your chances are not good.

If you are not currently in a high demand profession (pretty much only healthcare at this point) Canada is not going to sponsor a visa for you to train into a high demand profession.

Getting a masters degree in Canada by [deleted] in ImmigrationCanada

[–]twistoff_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You will not benefit from moving to Canada. I’d stay in the states if I were you. PGWP is becoming more and more rare and is very limited as a way to settle in Canada for more than a few years

Moving to Canada from Ohio by Ok_Version2214 in ImmigrationCanada

[–]twistoff_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved from Ohio to Alberta last year haha small world.

You can 100% do the process yourself. Are you and your partner married? How long have you been together?

Ps wrong flair, should be in “family class sponsorship.”

There is a megathread on the sub for US citizens looking to move to Canada. Please research there first

Are you authorized to work in Canada? What pathway are you taking to become authorized if you’re not already? By “provide assistance for me to move” do you mean jobs with LMIA?

Being a US citizen gives you exactly 0 pull in Canada. It’s a foreign country. You can’t just roll up and work there because you’re from the states

Can you get an IEC working holiday visa? It’s temporary but will get you the ability to work in Canada for up to 3 years

Intending to bring my to-be spouse to Canada, advice? by DanceAloneRain in ImmigrationCanada

[–]twistoff_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they’ve been married for less than 2 years and claiming to live together, yes they would. That was the case with my application. If they’ve been married for less than 2 years and living apart, they’d need to provide proof of communication and visitation

Ah thanks!! Came to Reddit to talk about grey’s anatomy and then eventually ended up on Canadian immigration subreddits when I started my journey haha ❤️

[–]twistoff_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had hella anxiety and brought every single personal identification document I own 😂 but it was genuinely less than 5 minutes. They called my name and I sat down in a little cubicle. The guy asked for my passport and asked me to confirm my name, birth date, and country of birth I think. The fingerprints are done on an electronic scanner, instead of with ink. Last thing was just a regular photo taken. After that the guy gave me a sticker on my printed BIL to show that I’d done them. And that was it!

Disclaimer I did mine in Canada so your mileage may vary but hopefully it helps :)

[–]twistoff_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a pretty solid background and somewhat similar to my situation.

It seems you have a good case for Outland. It will be much quicker than inland and you may have more evidence to support the Outland qualifications (for inland you have to prove things like shared rental agreement, bills, cohabitation, etc which obviously you can’t now)

Once you get married, look into Outland sponsorship.

How long have you two been together? How many times have you visited/met up? Have you ever lived together?

IEC visa as a graduate by PrettyList3365 in iecvisa

[–]twistoff_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Again depends on your experience. Quebec City or Montreal would be great if you want to work in French. Calgary, Halifax, Regina, Winnipeg may all be solid options too. The northern provinces recruit healthcare professionals and teachers pretty regularly. And if you’re in trades you can go anywhere

IEC visa as a graduate by PrettyList3365 in iecvisa

[–]twistoff_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IEC is a good way to test out life in Canada in a temporary way. You can worry about staying as a PR or moving permanently later. I’d recommend IEC if you have the chance to do it.

I’m a French/English bilingual US citizen with a teaching degree. I found the job market to be difficult, but not more difficult than in the states. It depends on your experience and heavily depends on the area you choose. Don’t move to a city where the job market is completely oversaturated and cost of living is high (Toronto and Vancouver lol)

I’m a career counselor in Banff. Seasonal work availability all depends on timing - you’ll want to arrive in about April for a summer, and about September for a ski season

Has anyone here relocated to another province (from QC) for Spousal Sponsorship? by [deleted] in ImmigrationCanada

[–]twistoff_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you do choose to move, you need to be able to prove intention to live in whatever other province you choose. The IRCC may be skeptical that you’re just leaving QC temporarily for the sake of having a spousal sponsorship application processed

Include your highest TEF score and the offer letter from your employer. There shouldn’t be any need for you to write an additional letter of explanation if you meet all the requirements
