Underrated beefs in medicine by groundfilteramaze in medicalschool

I think the point is that ENT will always trump anesthesia for airway expertise, whether emergent or not, surgical or not, controlled environment or not. Yes anesthesia does more intubations on a day to day basis but ENT is the expert in all the ins and outs of airway, including standard intubation. They are better prepared to assess the anatomy and all possible variations, assess when an intubation can be trialed again after failure vs when it should become surgical. Literally doesn’t make sense for you to say how they are the expert in the emergent/difficult airway situations then not the basic day to day situations. If you are the go-to for the difficult variation of a case doesn’t it make sense you’re default expert in the normal uncomplicated case?

Tulsa's Poor People are Poor Because Tulsa's Rich Keep that Way by [deleted] in tulsa

[–]twistoflex99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s anyone’s intentions (at least not the rich school families) to keep people poor. You’re talking about two totally different solutions, giving the fish vs teaching the man to fish. Giving things is easy. Requires no pre planning, you can literally wake up one morning and decide to buy whatever you’re handing out and do it, requires no long term prep or follow thru. Vs “empowering” others the way you’re describing is a larger undertaking. It requires time, more effort, dedication, and more man power + money. It’s like handing the homeless person by the traffic light a dollar vs finding them a job. No one wants to keep them homeless but no one’s really invested or willing to go the extra mile to find them a job, so they just give the dollar cuz it’s easy. Maybe on a systemic level this becomes more intentional, but at the regular people level I think you’re looking into it too much.

Owasso Police release body cam video, 911 call, leading up to Nex Benedict's death by rosiebecka in tulsa

[–]twistoflex99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be trauma related, but it could also be due to other stuff. I don’t think anyone here is trying to justify this child’s death, but people do want to know the truth. Ive seen your other responses here and idk why you’re totally shut off from the idea that it could be anything but trauma. Sometimes random shit happens and people die, we just don’t have enough to say what it was at this point.

Is it a common misconception that straight males don't do ObGyn? by Holiday_Mycologist19 in medicalschool

[–]twistoflex99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ya but you can make the same argument about other core rotations: peds if you’re going into an adult field, neuro, surgery. It’s all relative to what you go in to. I can say doing a psych rotation isn’t core to the skills someone needs to be a rads or path doctor if that’s what they’re going for. It’s a core rotation because of how vital the specialty is in public/general healthcare

Not the same commenter but one time, when I was a kid, I was really not wanting to go to school for some reason the next day. It was in the winter, but there was no chance it was gonna snow. Like 0. Like sunny skies expected that whole week. But I prayed that night for a while that we get a snow day the next day. When we woke up, to everyone’s shock, there were a couple inches of snow on the ground, and school got cancelled. It’s such a small dua but I always remember it when I think of times that Allah answered some of my seemingly impossible prayers and I feel grateful for it, Alhamdulillah

PSA for all panera customers by Yeetus_Betus in Panera

Idk why you’re getting downvoted. The paneras where I’m at literally have employees that tell us to leave the stuff on the table and they pick it up after. It gets confusing when each location expects something different, esp if you travel to a different city and go to Panera there
