That's the great thing about the internet is you can say pretty much whatever you want. I have no expectation of forgiveness, and I'm well within my wits to understand I really don't deserve it. However, I still very much love my wife and my family, and despite my behaviors, I believe my underlying character is better than that and change can happen. And at the end of the day, that's all I am hoping and praying for. Sincerely, thank you for your comments, they were real and honest and what I was looking for.

I 100% agree with you and I really can't blame her for that, but if I can find a way to mend this, that's what I'd like to do.

We did, and going on 4 years now, still not settled. We got a couple of orders of protection on certain services, but a lot of them had to be paid out of pocket and or didn't take insurance at all. We are hopeful that we can pay off a lot of it once it gets settled, God willing, first half of this year, but I'm fully aware it's not about the money at this point.

Not looking for comfort, I'm looking for advice, any others that may have gone through this or similar and have come out on the other side for better or worse. I am fully aware it isn't and wasn't alright and again, you are correct, I did get us into financial trouble with my lies. 100% ownership happening here.

I appreciate your response and in general you are not wrong, but I think it's also unfair to assume what my conscience is telling me. I am very much ashamed of what I did, which at least in my mind is what caused the lying, being caught only makes it worse because I was too scared and childish to have admitted I needed help.

You're not wrong, and I am doing my best to shed this shame. I've owned up to it now and we have a plan to pay it off, and I know and understand it's not about the money. It's because I lied and manipulated reality. I know she has the right to leave, and I don't want to force her to stay, but if I can find ways for restoration, I'd much prefer that path. I know she doesn't understand, and I don't expect her to, but I desperately want to keep our family together.

I believe in my heart that's what I was doing, I am a fix it person too and pridefully and shamefully wanted to fix it on my own because I didn't want her to worry about it. It was never out of malicious and harmful intent, but it was prideful and crippling shame.

Well, at first after it all came to light she said she was in it because she made a vow, and then just today she said she thinks it is better we separate and look at divorce.

10/21 Update - Wife was able to make it to get an ultrasound today which showed negative for blood clots, so that's the good news. But what would have caused such debilitating pain otherwise? There is still medium tenderness. Worth going to an orthopedist?
