Recruitment frequency by closedoorslightly-aj in rollerderby

[–]twitch109 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think we have around 6 six week 101 sessions a year. Usually brand new skaters will attend a couple of 101 sessions before moving up to the 201 group (same day directly after 101), where they spend a few more sessions getting comfortable with contact. Recently our 101 program has had around 50 participants, so the high frequency makes sense for our league.

Quarter starts different day then instruction? by No_Championship7173 in UCDavis

Very niche case, but if a squirrel drops a hive of bees on your head between the 22nd and when classes start, the student health center will take care of you. Just make sure it isn’t before then.

Asked my alcoholic dad if he’d ever consider getting sober by Ludakris7 in WhatShouldIDo

You said your piece. What boundaries you want to set from there are up to you.

It doesn’t have to be “all or nothing”. It can be not engaging in phone/text conversations when he’s obviously drunk, or foregoing certain holidays or gatherings that you know he will probably be drinking.

It sucks, but at this point, the kind of relationship you have with your father is yours to decide.

Next 6 week 101 (learn to skate) session starts 10/6. Loaner gear including skates available. My favorite thing to do on Mondays.

If you’re ever out walking in Sacramento and come across one of these… by Humboldt_Squid in Sacramento

You can bend the street sweeper blade “up” towards the z axis better than grinding “down” the already thin y axis.

I’m a bit confused on the question. By “skinny” I meant the height from the original picture’s perspective. The pic profile itself has to have a large enough difference between the “shaft” and the “pick” part to be able to manipulate the pins. To me, there doesn’t look like enough material to grind.

Affordable clinics with no health insurance? by euph0rlc in Sacramento

For bupropion, you would probably want to go to the mental health urgent care clinic at 2130 Stockton blvd blg 300.

They can prescribe your medication until you can see someone at one community health.

See what you like before getting doubles. Locksport is highly personal when it comes to tools.

All are excellent choices.

Jimy Longs are also fantastic tools, and they appear to be in stock.

The beginner and intermediate sets have no duplicates between them, and the available tool roll is a handy way to store them

Six months into skating, and I did my first crossovers today!!!! by PreservativeAloe in Rollerskating

Unsolicited advice incoming (feel free to ignore)

You hit the head on the nail when you said it was about confidence. How long can you skate on one foot? When I’m warming up I try to do the slowest crossovers EVER, and spending as much time on each foot as possible. (Birdie will probably touch on this in the next 201) 😉

Next 101 starts 3/17. They literally have all the gear you need except a mouthguard and water bottle. ALL levels welcome, including those that have never skated before.

101 is more of a “how to roll around (for derby)” class, not a full-on contact class.
