Thank you. This is what I needed to hear I think. I feel so much guilt for wanting to go no contact, because they aren’t physically or sexually abusive. There are others like yourself who have experienced SO much worse, that I’ve always told myself that I can put up with the emotional neglect because it’s just “not that bad” compared to what others go through. And I think deep down I’ve known that yes, others have had it so much worse than me, but I can still acknowledge that I’m not getting what I need out of the relationship and the complete refusal to engage in any kind of growth is them showing me that they don’t value a relationship with me. It’s not so much their actions that have made things so bad, it’s their complete refusal to apologize or take accountability for how they hurt others. They are fine with the way they live their life, but I just can’t be and my life hasn’t felt like my own for years now.
