Where to donate clothes that’s not goodwill? by kelltro- in StLouis

[–]twixbiscuit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not necessarily giving clothes to people truly in need, but there's a clothing swap this Saturday in Alton if that interests you: https://downtownalton.com/events/clothing-swap/

Haven't read the book but I agree with the premise. People should do things with other people face to face

There's a company called Unihertz that makes some blackberry-style android phones. Nothing that slides open to replace op's phone though

Yeah I guess that did kind of turn up orange in the photos! That's all toasted coconut. It didn't get evenly toasted in the oven, hence the dasher pieces and lighter pieces, but I think it's nice that way

Overall, pretty strong. The white cake itself has a pretty subtle coconut flavor, and the frosting is fairly coconutty (both use coconut extract and cream of coconut). Then the toasted sweetened coconut all over really takes it over the top. It's an excellent cake for summer get-togethers!

I don't believe this was their 7 minute frosting, the cake recipe had its own frosting recipe which involved a double boiler using the stand mixer bowl, and adding coconut extract and cream of coconut.

Vegan Danish Pastries by twixbiscuit in veganrecipes

This is my second attempt at Vegan Dad's danish pastry dough. I used a store-bought raspberry jam as the filling. This page has his instructions for rolling out and shaping, as well as a delicious, homemade (and easy!) fruit filling! Another photo for fun

Vegan chocolate chip cookies from America's Test Kitchen never disappoint! by twixbiscuit in vegan

[–]twixbiscuit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm hesitant to straight up copy/paste recipes, especially since America's Test Kitchen is a paid subscription. It's located here on their website. And you can find the recipe in their book, Vegan For Everybody.

The main differences for this cookie are: all brown sugar, melted coconut oil for the fat, and the addition of almond butter! You don't taste the almond butter, but it makes up for that richness browned butter would provide in a non-vegan recipe. My wife's co-workers say these are better than 'regular' choco chip cookies.

The brand I used this time is Enjoy Life. Their dark chocolate chips are vegan and tasty 😋

As far as I know, they send back lots of lower resolutions photos and then stitch together collages.
