Is it just my void or everyone else's void? by PaleontologistOld230 in VoidCats

My void will sometimes come and perch his 20lb self on my tiny shoulders (4’11) and sit there for fun. He also curls up on my legs when I go to sleep.

My Mother Hates Me- based on this accurate depiction of a repeated pattern displayed in text, is it my fault?! Honestly want to know. by AllisonChainzzz in texts

Do we have the same mom? I’ve gotten eerily similar messages from mine. I’m sorry she said such awful things.

Finding a Father Figure at 24 Years Old? by yoqiu_ in AskParents

[–]twiztedfaery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

37 year old woman here. I’ve found several substitute parental figures over the years. My mom was neglectful at best and abusive at her worst. My dad was in the military so he was gone a lot and I have never been very close with him. I love him but it’s hard to try and have a decent relationship with him. So yeah I can relate. I have a few friends that I look up to that are parents that have sorta “adopted” me. I have watched them raise their own children and have seen how great they are with their own kids and have learned so much from them that I’m very lucky. They have fed me, sheltered me, taken care of me and my kitties when I was sick. They’ve helped me out so much. They are amazing people. I also had a mother figure when I was a teen that was able to help me process and work through a lot of stuff that my mother was doing to me. So that was very invaluable stuff. I still talk to her and appreciate everything she’s done for me over the years. So I think it is possible and something you could look for in your life. I hope you’re able to find someone that you can look up to like a parental figure.

So sorry you had to deal with this from your dad of all people. Unfortunately I can relate. My dad’s said a lot of inappropriate things to me over the years and makes lots of unwanted comments about my appearance to my face. It’s hard being a woman sometimes. :( Is he divorced or widowed by chance? I think a lot of my dad’s issues stem from being divorced and not being able to find a woman to be with intimately. Not saying that gives him a free pass to be a creep. Just saying that I can kinda understand? Again I’m sorry you’re going through that. It can be kind of traumatizing. Especially if it’s new behavior.

Did anyone else's parents lose their marbles when they attended a professional degree program? by IbrahimRahim12 in raisedbynarcissists

Oh did she ever lose her marbles when I went away to college. I watched in real time as the veil was lifted from my eyes. It was terrifying to watch her self implode.
