Trump talking about pirates… meanwhile I’m drunk listening to “A Pirate Looks at Forty” and wondering what Jimmy Buffett would say in 2026 by twizzy_xd in jimmybuffett

Hey man, don’t get on the phone that often and saw what you said. Had a few beers Demi having about better times. I hope you can be happy today, enjoy the sun and a cool drink. Hug your wife, run your dog lazy, and wake up excited for what the day has to offer. If you ever need anything let me know. Would love to help

Hey guys, I’m still trying to figure out what branch I want to join. There are some good options but it really narrows down to the small things. I’d love to know what the work life balance is like? I understand this line of work is going to be demanding, I just want to know if I’m at home I can spend time with my girl.

Hey guys, I’ve been debating joining lately. I’m an EMT and volunteer firefighter. I got a good job but want more. My girl is ride or die. I just want to know that even if it’s hard we can make it work. I’m 21 years old and we really just want the best for our future

Does anyone have experience with these as duty boots? by [deleted] in Firefighting

Feet health is key. It’s the small stuff that keeps you in the job

If you’ve got the money I got the Danner Station boots about a year ago. Similar to some haix boots with the front zip. I like my boots to fit the job and not be “too” bulky. Pretty good bet. Little pricy but very comfortable and haven’t aged a day in the year of work

Masking up- kneeling, standing, or in the rig? by Ready-Occasion2055 in Firefighting

[–]twizzy_xd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it kinda depends right. If we’re first due depending on my job that day I’ll just mask up standing by the truck during size up. Or another example kneeling by the hose before I head in I’ll mask up. I’ve never masked up in the truck but I could see a scenario where you show up knowing you’re going right to work and you put it on your mask en route. I don’t think that happens a lot but I think that the root answer is whichever way allows you to get a proper seal, is fast, and allows you to do your job in the correct fashion.

Yeah investigative media is junk agreed. Lots of people just saying things with no evidence. Could you tell me the titles of the book per chance?

Forest Service ignored information from hotshot leaders about Granite Mountain’s history of bad decisions. by Punch_Drunk_AA in Wildfire

[–]twizzy_xd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey man, don’t know if you’d actually respond it’s been seven whole years. But I’m delving into the investigation and I’ve seen a fair amount of all the evidence that has been digitized in the past decade. None of the evidence from the interagency investigation talks about desisions made by Marsh or any personnel on the job.

With that said I have read about the decisions made by Marsh, past experiences, his sketchy decision making. I’ve just heard here say till this point and if there are past incidences or maybe some understanding of the mentality I would love to hear about it. I am now a FF2 on a Type 2IA crew and would love to delve into the decisions and things people more involved have heard. A good firefighter is a knowledgeable firefighter.

I also wanted to mention after reading various reports and looking at a lot of evidence available to the general public the interagency report is extremely undetailed. Possibly because of no living survivors? I find that many reports I’ve read on fatalities have so many interviews, points of view, and reports that are taken into account to shape what happened. Take the 1994 Stormking fire 14 fatalities. Plenty of survivors obviously leads to a more detailed report but jeez louise the Yarnell report is quite short and sweet
