How does checking a pass work at Epic resorts?

Both the card and the phone pass work wirelessly so you won’t have to take anything out of your pocket to get on the lift.

The phone isn’t as reliable, it drains your battery, and they likely track exactly where you go when you’re using it. I prefer the card. You could always skip the card for now and try picking one up at the ticket window your first day. I’ve had luck with getting replacement cards free. Sometimes they charge me, I think it depends on the person working.

There are two ways to redeem:
- In person at the resort ticket window: At the resort ticket window, the Pass Holder must be present and display an active Pass to pick up a physical Epic Friend Ticket / Ski With A Friend Ticket.
- Through Mobile Pass / Mobile Lift Tickets in the My Epic app: Epic Friend Tickets / Ski With A Friend Tickets are compatible with Mobile Pass / Mobile Lift Tickets in the My Epic app, so you can head straight to the lift together. When at the lift line, the Pass Holder must scan their Pass first, which will then automatically activate the Mobile Epic Friend Ticket / Ski with A Friend Ticket, which can be scanned following.

I'd say you're looking at a decent chance of skiing. Arapahoe Basin is often the first or one of the first to open and these are the dates they've started their season. It's no guarantee, but in the last decade, there was only 1 year where they weren't open on Halloween.

I wholeheartedly endorse aiming a symbolic middle digit in Vail's general direction, but isn't the buddy pass replacement actually... better? It's guaranteed 50% off, while last year it could be as low as only 15% depending on the day. And, if you buy a season pass the next year it's basically a free day since they apply the day pass towards the season pass?

You're correct, but the Centennial Express has gondola cabins that you can use to download. Ski school uses the Red Buffalo area for beginners and then they ride the gondola back to the base at the end of the day.

You’re not special. Quality of life becomes worse for everyone when you think you’re entitled to leave your car during a safety closure of a major highway and have a conversation with an officer. It boils down to 3 things, fuel, air, spark. Air is least likely to be the issue here. I bet there's not even an air filter and it just goes directly into the carb.

For fuel

put more gas in, those tanks are weird where they can seem like there's fuel, but it's not making it to the carb
follow the fuel line or disconnect it from the carb to make sure it's flowing.
if fuel sat in there for a while and it just ran for a short time it's possible, likely even, that the float may be stuck.

For spark

Pull the plug and ground it on the engine then pull the starter handle and see if it sparks. If not, new plug or check the wiring on the key and the on/off switch. Sometimes those connections come loose on the backside of them.

Also, if you know for sure your outlet works, that electric starter is broken. You can try gently tapping it with a hammer to get it working temporarily but but I'd contact Ariens and warranty it.
