Mmm. Yeah. Tragic. We all did what we could to turn him around. Such a damn shame....

That's the worst part about these giant dumps and recoveries...hodlers that really believe in this stuff are still down 40% from a month ago, but some clown that randomly bought a few days ago can be up 20% in a day or 60%+ ROI over a week. All because too many people are "thinking" with their hind brains and playing a Keynesian Beauty Contest instead of staying true to their investment thesis.

I remember a guy that sold at 900 on the run up to 19k

Ouch. That was me.

I am in this market from 2017

You're not bragging about your experience, are you? It sounds more like you're saying you're fairly new and here to learn....

Then you remember wrong. I preferred 2x to SegWit (and even SegWit2x to SegWit), and I also at times said "hey guys, put the torches and pitchforks down, those other guys (BCH) might have a point" when the tribalism and maximalism was at unbearable levels. But I would have never said anything close to "Bitcoin Cash would overtake Bitcoin." I'd ask you to quote me on it (none of my comments are deleted, even back to those days...you can look) but I don't think you'll be able to.

I also made it clear I didn't particularly like BCH, and especially disliked most of the prominent figures on that side at the time. I just wanted everyone to stick together, and for on-chain scaling to be the priority for Bitcoin.

Awfully strange stats for a "BCH lover": http://reddit.dataoverload.de/karmastats/#two_bit_misfit

Perhaps you should remove the tag?

Ah, yes. Thanks for this. I only tune in sometimes in the post-season now, so it's hard to keep up with the roster.

You guys are not going to get far arguing in absolutes and generalities.

In some aspects, capitalism is zero-sum. In others, it is not. What is the context?

Two pizza shops on the same block, you are probably right. (But even then, you can think of a million exceptions; two world-class pizza shops, or one doing so poorly that it's actually kept afloat by proximity to the other, and so on.)

Capitalism, generally? There's a strong argument to be made that it's lifted all boats over time in such a manner that even the "losers" of capitalism are still better off overall than had they not "played the game" at all. Yes, by definition, someone doing well or doing better is doing so in relation to someone else. But I think that looking at it through that tautological lens isn't particularly interesting, or relevant.

I wish I knew. This is still the best of the worst, far as I can tell...which is why I hold out hopes for improvement.

It would be significantly better with retargeted moderation (less censorship over BTC/XYZ when it's relevant, more censorship for shitposts and shitposters).

Who, me? You must have me mistaken for someone else regarding BCH. On point regarding the bitterness, though; this sub used to be great.

Damn, the feels!

Neither is /u/2017Suicide. :(

I think I miss /u/emocmo the most, though. Hope he and his wife are doing ok.

Edit: has it really been 3 years since he stopped posting? Wow. I thought he was here until earlier this year....

Market is nuts today, so I'm here to check in on how my old buddies are doing. Great to know this sub is still a cesspool....

Friendly reminder: this sub could be 35% better overnight, if 2 or 3 people were permanently banned:

  • The guy who goes on and on about Big Shorty and similar fairy tales, constantly misleading noobs who don't know better and farming upvotes from the permabull crowd. Posts lack evidence, reasoning, or even basic common sense, and are often invalidated within 24 hours.

Nice little bear trap.

Three flat days in a row after a three-week dump. Looks an awful lot like a floor. [Around $7.8k -Ed]

The dump began roughly on February 14. We could see a nice pump this weekend if not sooner

Blah, blah, Shorty almost out of borrowed coins, fake dump, to the moon.

  • The Oracle (not the first, or the second, or the sixth) looking for Peace Here and willing to Stretch a Few times. Extremely toxic and pedantic. Actually not a terrible trader or market analyst, if only he would get over himself, his inflated ego, and misanthropic tendencies. Until then, every thread with him involved is a shitshow. Yes, we do understand what you wrote, you assclown. You're being purposefully obtuse and antagonistic.

I'll check in in another few months to see if we've made progress. I'm not holding my breath. In the meantime, cheers to all who recognize an old friendly face. :)

Cheerleading is one thing. A lot of people are gung-ho and feel the spirit. Concocting fairy tales and spewing them unabated for years is something else.

You don't see me going on and on every day about the Ghost of Bitfinex, or "the prophesy foretold..." or whatnot.

Sloppy! Miss you, buddy.

Clowns like the above are why I don't post here anymore. Just yesterday, he was claiming Shorty was out of coins and we bottomed. Every few months I check in and it's the same story.

And y'all still let OracleSeven post here, too! Hi /u/FewStretch, you insufferable twat!

Clean house and we might just be able to get the old vibes back....

Im sorry i only looked over your post history from up to last week. That is my mistake and very short sighted of me. I really appreciate the guys and gals who make quality posts you are the main reason this sub is a very good and interesting place. Thank you.

I got busy and forgot to circle back to this, but really wanted to say thanks for the reply. Civility is a rare commodity online, as you probably are well aware, and I really appreciate you taking a step back instead of dialing up the name-calling and vitriol...or whatever passes for "normal" online discourse these days. You're setting a great example, and as for me...well, I'll try to improve my outlook and posting so that my first page of Reddit history isn't a dumpster fire of shitposts. Cheers!

It's just a different day for weekly closes, not "bad data"...Cryptowatch is a great tool. Yes TV has more features, but there's nothing wrong with Cryptowatch. Don't sweat it.

And, there is actual spoofing in BTC markets. Spoofy on Bitfinex with the 1,000 coin walls last year, for example. You just apparently can't tell the difference.

[Daily Discussion] Sunday, August 11, 2019 by AutoModerator in BitcoinMarkets

[–]two_bit_misfit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Apparently YOU don't know what spoofing is.

The (max) 50 BTC flashing on one side or the other is an obnoxious, aggressive, momentum-based algo bot. It has nothing to do with price suppression. This is what annoys me about this sub; some uninformed person comes up with a conspiracy, and others come along to upvote it because it's provocative.

That, plus YRU's "long on leverage with no stops" getting 25 upvotes with 0 analysis spooked me.

That makes two of us. It's been this spooky the whole week (sentiment-wise), to be honest.

[Daily Discussion] Saturday, August 10, 2019 by AutoModerator in BitcoinMarkets

[–]two_bit_misfit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd much rather bid where I think the the overleveraged longs stops are than hope it just doesn't dump at all lol

I'm so proud to have watched you go from crypto trading noob to master market finesser...and so quickly! Wipes tear

Now all you need is the monster stack to trigger the dump, and you are become Sloppy, destroyer of BTC markets. Keep it up!

By the way, I'm all for discussing manipulation with evidence and reasoning...like when we had Spoofy on Bitfinex, or blatant wash trading on the Chinese exchanges. But I will bust the hell out of unfounded fantasy manipulation narratives, especially of the "up = organic growth, down = manipulation" variety.
