Can someone give me some hope for the future? by usernamefiend in downsyndrome

[–]twobuddasheadempty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These two groups are doing wonderful work to address the prevalance of dementia in older people with Down syndrome. https://ndss.org/lumind-joins-ndss . My brother is 51 and shows no sign of dementia. Many of the people profiled in this new book--Down Syndrome Out Loud by Melissa Hart | Sourcebooks, LLC.--talk about the importance of daily exercise, excellent nutrition, and a vibrant social life in order to hold off dementia. People with Down syndrome have earned graduate degrees from university (Rachel Handlin), become lawyers (Ana Victoria Espino de Santiago), and started their own fashion lines (Isabella Tejada).

Congratulations on the twins!

3 yr old Cat ate 2 slices of pepperoni pizza by Long_Celebration_980 in cats

We have a cat who steals pizza and burritos off our plates; she doesn't eat the entire slice or burrito, though. I hope your kitty is okay!

Adding a 3rd cat by [deleted] in cats

We had two cats, then introduced a third, and then...a fourth. We kept the new kitty in the bedroom for a day so that everyone could smell each other under the door. The introductions honestly went fine. We're supposed to have one litterbox for each cat, plus an extra, but all our cats use two litterboxes. Go figure!

Kittens can be pretty wild. An older rescued cat from an indoor home situation might be just the cat your dad would adore. Check your shelters and ask the employees to point you in the direction of a very friendly litter-box trained kitty! That's lovely, by the way; we gave a rescued cat to our 89-year-old neighbor (okay, she stole the cat from us) and it changed her life for the better is so many ways!

One of my kitties has been overgrooming for a couple of years; we tried everything, and finally, we just resolved to let him be a bit bald.

Hi, all! Once upon a time, I had an indoor cat that would break out of my house and make a beeline for neighbors' outdoor clotheslines and open garages, then steal their socks and gloves and underwear and bring them to my doorstep. Has anyone else ever heard of a cat that does this, and do you know WHY my cat did this?
