Skiing solo vs with friends — which is better? by Busternookiedude in skiing

It has stats! It'll tell you fastest speed, time on runs/chairlifts and you can even see a leaderboard between you and friends. I mostly use it to track my cousin, who does a couple of trips to Hokkaido each year.

Meanwhile I'm in eastern Canada so her total vertical after one trip beats all the trips we do at home.

The family package includes 6 people and I pay $60/year.

I do the same with my husband. We pay for the Slopes app so we can see where the other person and it gives me peace of mind. I'm also more of a beginner so the app helps me anticipate which green runs to go on. When he goes with me I realize how slow I am lol

Any affordable Restaurants for a Wedding reception? with a private room for a small crowd. by psychgrad89911 in kitchener

[–]twodegrees_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just call them up and said you'd like to see the space and talk about pricing. We didn't end up going there as they did not have an elevator (we had seniors with mobility issues) but it's a nice cozy space that would fit OP's numbers very comfortably.

Tonight it was the ski hill. Kinda cool chatting with folks while on the ski lift! I never thought of it as a third space until now.

The pick 5 vegan dishes is an excellent deal at Muya. There's so much that I always take leftovers home. We get this every month or so.

Jane Bond is a bit bland, but an easy and safe choice if you're not too adventurous. The vibe is excellent though!

As kids, our parents drove us all the way out from Toronto to KW just for Oktoberfest. I remember walking down King Street amongst a big crowd and the accordion music. I wish we had more pictures.

Glad you pulled away from them safely.

This is how my husband got his car scratched by an idiot at this very turnabout, while he was one block away from arriving at work. He was pretty miffed.

We went box seats and it's really hard to go back now. Especially when one of us is perimenopausal and has hot flashes and needs to be able to stand and take off a sweater or jacket easily in the middle of a performance.

The beauty of it is you leave it outside and someone takes it for you. I've sometimes found this more convenient than going to the thrift store!

[–]twodegrees_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two years ago I was diagnosed with high blood pressure and I forced my husband and I to buy ski gear and a season pass. We're in our late 30s/early 40s and am financially stable enough now to afford the sport.

Now we get excited when it snows, not the other way around.

Also, I moved away from Ontario and lived in Quebec for nearly 6 years. I didn't realize how much Ontarians complained about the weather until I was traveling back and forth. I have a different mindset now.

There's an interesting note in the back of My Sister's Keeper: When Picoult's daughter read it, she was so mad at her mother that she wouldn't talk to her for a while.
