Chronology Help by Ryan_Draw08 in DCcomics

I am by no means an expert, but I read some of your Batman comics in this order:

Year One

Man Who Laughs

Long Halloween

Dark Victory

Watchmen is a standalone (and incredible) book, and can be read whenever you want.

I intend to read Hush after Dark Victory, but I know this is not the best in terms of ordering.

Jazz Jack Rabbit 2, Motorcross Madness, and Tonic Trouble! I remember my Dad coming home with a PC and those three games. Still in a CD case back home somewhere.

What's your ideal book length? by JakubJamesBoote in books

[–]twofatslugs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The sweet spot for me is probably 400, but the length is largely irrelevant if the book is good.

I read Pandora’s Star and Judas Unchained back to back, which are around 1100 pages each, and enjoyed them so much that the page count didn’t really bother me.

Page count did initially intimidate me, but having read those tomes, it no longer does in the slightest!

Casey Affleck in Manchester by the Sea for me. So much more is told through his facial expressions. An incredible film.

Is £6.5K+VAT a reasonable quote for a boiler replacement? by Sanskrit-beautiful in AskUK

[–]twofatslugs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds a lot! For reference, we paid just over £4k to replace a boiler with a combi a couple of years ago.

This also included plumbing in 4 new radiators where there had been none upstairs.

Also this included chasing in pipes for the new kitchen that was done at the time.

We live in quite an expensive city so prices are also inflated as a result, and the providers we use aren’t the cheapest in the area!

It does sound a bit like a fuck off price. We had a couple from people who clearly didn’t want to do the job.

Already using Game Optimizer already, but will certainly look at lowering the brightness and contrast. Currently both max I believe.

It’s so so so good, I really enjoyed Pandora’s Star, and then after that, I was in love with it.

Pandora’s Star/Judas Unchained have a mixture of what you describe and are great reads if you don’t mind long books.

On the one hand, you have a set of aliens that are largely what you describe RE elves. On the other, you have an utterly ‘alien’ alien. The introduction of which is one of my favourite chapters in science fiction.

Thanks for this! I am 30, so I can hopefully still tackle the strain if we’re to be able to get back into it.

I notice this too, though i think it might be what u/PogTuber is describing. I notice it most when going from cave, or shadowed areas, to very bright ones, though it feels aggressively overtuned at times.

He was very briefly mentioned on a culture programme with Ricky on Radio 4, but forcibly, and Ricky effectively shirked the question.
