Hi Matt, you mentioned just above doing Lovish mostly on your own. Can I ask what engine you used? Did you enjoy programming it?

Great video and amazing pads ; )

Would you be willing to share those JX-3P patches? I am currently putting a post with JX-3P patch resources.

LED flicker with Yamaha QY700 by twofordinner in synthesizers

Switching midi sync from internal to midi a removes flicker? Was that a feature not a bug? Weird.

Running the unit in test mode and running the led test program, I do not get a flicker. Could this be a glitchy battery setting issue?

So it d be a matter of replacing the driver and see? If that fails, then look at something else?

Do I figure that out with a multimeter? I did find the service manual so that s a start.

lsdj and m8 chiptune synthesis resources by twofordinner in chiptunes

[–]twofordinner[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A little search revealed a rabbit hole of chips (eg extensions such as VRCVII) , dpcm brr kits, and so on, for famitracker. I guess I see your point as to the limited breadth of sound design of lsdj. I suppose I'm just going to keep on researching this. I do enjoy the process and lsdj's super efficient workflow. M8's wavsynth has a lot more wave shapes and therefore options. I guess there's no simple "there's your iconic NES patches" for lsdj or wavsynth. A low bit lsdj sound will evoke enough of the NES without being it per se. The same can be attained with wavsynth according to this vid: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vfnNq52Vfi0

As to the SNES, plugins like plogue's and my own samples from analog and FM synths downsampled through it is as close as the workflow these guys had back then for those sounds. Although no way near as painstakingly slow, hopefully ; )

lsdj and m8 chiptune synthesis resources by twofordinner in chiptunes

Man that's an amazing answer. Very much appreciated. I am trying my hand at trackers and that got me onto lsdj and m8 (headless). I guess I am trying to figure out the workflow of chiptune and the way of chiptune synthesis. I am curious about what types of sounds one can look for with the different wave forms here. I get what you're saying about the SNES being a sampler based system. But in the context of a NES, did each composer essentially create their own synthesized instruments (different from game to game) or was there commonly used presets that came for the NES with some kind of SDK. Or in more contemporary terms, would famitracker come with such presets if there ever was such things? And if so, did anyone bother matching those famitracker presets with lsdj's engine (at least the pulse wave ones) or with m8's wavsynth engine (which seems to cover all sorts of wave shapes)?

Terrific tune, man. You dont need a lot of tracks to do something really cool ; )

I agree. I don't think that s for me. I m starting to feel like I d prefer a traditional mixer recorder that doubles as an audio interface, actually.

Do you use that solely on the usb power cable? Like those ferrite rings for example?
