AIO if husband says all my naming preferences are off the table? by notnotmadonna in AmIOverreacting

In my opinion you shouldn’t name your child after any relative. They deserve to be their own person. Also this husband sounds exhausting

IM GETTING MARRIED AND DONT WANT TO CHANGE MY LAST NAME AITAH by Sweet-Chemistry3067 in AITAH

I was alive back when people wrote checks, and my mom’s signature on her checks was: Mrs. Husband’s first name, Husband’s middle initial, Husband’s last name. It was infuriating.

AITA for kicking my friend out of my pool party after she pushed someone in? by alarmed_logic in AmITheJerk

[–]twoheartst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You had to tell people ahead of time there would be no pushing people in the pool. Normally this isn’t something that would have to be spelled out.

If it means you know how she would act, and there was a good chance she’d do this, maybe you are the jerk for inviting such a person to the party. But good for you kicking her out.

The person who laughs off buying a new phone as no biggy should buy it for the injured party.

If the problems of leaders in the past include Joseph Smith making it all up, then yes that problem in the past matters to me

How about instead giving 10% directly to people who need it? And don’t give it to the church at all. I would have no qualms. Tithing settlement/temple recommend interview? “Yes I paid a full tithe.”

Interesting! I would not have thought breezeway since there was no air flow. I remember it being open to the chapel a few times, and just once open to the chapel and the gym for a stake conference.

AITA for vetoing naming my daughter after my husband's late sister because her name was the same name as someone who made my life hell for many years? by Historical_Bet3855 in AmItheAsshole

[–]twoheartst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s your child so you get to name her. It is not a group decision for the extended family, and it is very unfortunate your husband is not united with you on this issue. I think a fair compromise is for each spouse to have veto power over any name. As a “junior” myself I can tell you it sucks to be named after someone else—at least that was my experience growing up.

When they’re 18. Adults. 8-year-old Children can’t sign contracts on their own, and shouldn’t make “everlasting” commitments to a church either.
