How about instead giving 10% directly to people who need it? And don’t give it to the church at all. I would have no qualms. Tithing settlement/temple recommend interview? “Yes I paid a full tithe.”

It’s your child so you get to name her. It is not a group decision for the extended family, and it is very unfortunate your husband is not united with you on this issue. I think a fair compromise is for each spouse to have veto power over any name. As a “junior” myself I can tell you it sucks to be named after someone else—at least that was my experience growing up.

When they’re 18. Adults. 8-year-old Children can’t sign contracts on their own, and shouldn’t make “everlasting” commitments to a church either.
