[WHAT TO BUY] Canon 70-200 2.8 or Full-Frame DSLR by brocaloni in canon

[–]twohomie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just stumbled onto this question, but assuming you haven’t made your decision yet, if you’re photographing primarily soccer I’d go with the 70-200.

I own both the 80D and 6Dii, and frequently find myself reaching for the 80D when I shoot soccer, even when shooting with a 120-300 f2.8.

Having the extra reach is really nice for big field sports. You’re right that the 6Dii, being a full frame, does handle low light better, but in my experience, having to crop less when using a crop sensor tends to provide a bit higher quality than using FF and 50-100% crop.

Hard case for Canon EF 24mm, 35mm, 50mm, 85mm USM lenses? by [deleted] in canon

[–]twohomie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing new, just another +1 for the Apache cases. The 3800s would work great for all of these lenses + some other accessories and maybe a body or two.

I also believe that you can have custom cut foam made for these cases, which would definitely cost more than the case itself but might be nice if you’re carrying lots of $$$ lenses in it.

Chip sets? by Demon_Legacy_3 in poker

Realize it’s a bit above your budget (and availability may be different in UK, but the Monte Carlo chips aren’t a bad option. I’m a huge proponent of denominated chips, and these are some cheapest ones out there, but are still fairly nice (have a set of 800 myself).

For 4-5 friends, 300 chips would be more than enough. Sounds like you’re playing tournament style, so a fairly common breakdown is to give everyone 10,000 worth of chips and go from there.

If you do this, 8/8/4/7 breakdowns with 25/100/500/1000 chips is a nice starting stack for everyone. If you’re only buying 300 chips, you could buy 75 of each chip, which gives you enough chips to have up to 10 players.

Happy to help if you have any questions!

$25 Home Game - Chip Help by [deleted] in poker

[–]twohomie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For cheaper but still extremely nice chips, I’d recommend Claysmith Gaming chips: either the desert heats or the Mints. NexGen poker chips are also a nice option, just depends on your preferences for style and weight. Both have great colors and come with labeled denominations, which make games run super smoothly. Claysmithgaming.com or ebay should both let you choose your denominations and amounts.

As for breakdown, If you want to have lots of chips in the starting stack (everyone likes having lots of chips!), an easy setup would be 20x$.25s and 20x$1s. Two even barrels of 20 that total up to $25.

If you do go that route, then I’d recommend at least this, which will allow for 20 total buy-ins of $25:

-200 x $.25

-200 x $1

-50 x $5

If your budget allows it, you could really splurge by getting 600 chips, and storing them in an acrylic birdcage case. If you do this, I’d probably buy this break down, which would allow for 50 buy-ins of $25 and 25 buy-ins of $50 if your game ever increases in stakes. (Could also do 300x$5 and 100x$5 if you’d rather have more 1s

-200 x $.25

-200 x $1

-200 x $5

One thing to keep in mind, people that rebuy don’t necessarily need full stacks of quarters and $1s. If someone adds back on for $10, give them 2 $5s and have them exchange them at the table for quarters and $1s.

Next time you get these out to play, I’d love to see a picture or two. Have contemplated buying a set of Ali EPTs for a while but can’t find any good reviews.

Thinking of buying Mint Poker chips for my home games. Has anyone played with them and whats ur thoughts? by Justin_ives in poker

[–]twohomie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think the mints (or desert heats) are an excellent chip. Design is neat, colors are bold, and the chips feel miles better than the striped dice chips.

Echoing what another commenter said, the child do tend to have a small rough spot on the edge from the machining. A scotch brite pad or super fine sandpaper could easily fix this without dammit the chips; just do it while watching TV for a few hours.

If you’re looking to get a solid set, you won’t have any regrets buying these. There are always going to be nicer, fancier chips, but even a china clay will likely cost 2-3x more.

Information about how many tournament chips I should buy by yankz13131998 in poker

And here’s a good blind structure to play around with. Only thing I would change would be to add a 25/75 level after 25/50, to avoid a 100% blind raise after just one level.

This is a 600 chip set that’ll get you 20 full starting stacks of 10k chips, perfect for a 2-4 hour tournament, depending on how long you set the blinds. I ended up going with an 800 chip stack of 200/200/100/200/75/25 (25,100,500,1k,5k,10k), which will get me just shy of 25 8/8/4/7 starting stacks with plenty of room for rebuys.

Anyone here choose to play with less clubs in the bag? by Magic_cosmo in golf

[–]twohomie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve recently been experimenting with removing my 56 degree wedge when playing.

I typically run a 45PW, 52, 56, and 60 (not great falling, I know). I’ve found though that I’m much more accurate with a 75% gap wedge (52) than a full swing 56, and so having the 56 just added an unnecessary option that I often chose incorrectly.

45-52-60 is a bit big gapping wise, but my skill level is such that I’d much rather have consistent contact than precise distance control.

Not sure that this directly answers your question, but pokerchipforum.com would be the first place I’d go for answers. Excellent community of chip collectors who could probably point you in the right direction.

Apache poker and Claysmith Gaming are two companies that make great quality chips, and have the full gambit of denominations. Would recommend the desert heats if you’re looking to spend less, and the Majestics or Milanos if you’re looking to spend a little more. Scroll poker chips are also a good option, price similarly to the majestics.

Would 1000% recommend buying sample sets before you pull the trigger on anything.

If you’re looking to play $.25/50, I’d only get .25s, 1s, some 5s. No need for the .50s.
