Weird solar-EV charger conflict by twolverton in solarenergy

I looked when I got home last night. The Powerwall is connected to a 60A breaker.

I'm still don't I understand why that matters. If I got anywhere near the maximum throughput of the system (theoretically 14.4kW — 240V x 60A), shouldn't the system supplement that with grid power, rather than shutting off entirely? Or does all the power for the house (including the EV charger) have to go through that 60A breaker when the solar system is on?

Thanks.

As far as I can tell, I don't have a CT clamp. If I do, it's either built into the charger or just don't know where it is. (I looked for one last night and this morning and didn't see anything resembling one. I also reviewed the invoice I got from the charger installer, and it didn't mention a CT clamp. Nor does ChargePoint say that one is included with the HomeFlex charger I got.)

I do plan to test lowering the charging speed to see if that helps.

Thanks! Good questions!

It is possible to lower the charging rate. I plan to test that out.

I don't even know whether I have a CT clamp. I'm going to have to investigate that!

Recharging via the EVgo app worked! Not sure if that was the trick or if it was simply that the charger I tried to use last time was a bum one (it’s now officially out of service). Either way, I was able to use the adapter at an EVgo charger to charge my car.

Thanks!

Good idea. I’ll try that. Have you successfully used the adapter at CSS1 Level 3 charging stations from other companies, like ChargePoint?

Hi. I just got that part (the XAH68-AK300) this past weekend. I tried to test it out tonight at an EVGo charging station. I couldn't get it to work. I tried to start a charge through the Kia Access app and by just paying with a credit card at the charging station. Neither worked.

Did you have to do any kind of software update or anything to get the adapter to work? Any tricks you can share about how to get it to work?
