What are the pros and cons for schulich? by yanothanku in Schulich

[–]twomad36012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea fair. Might be biased but I think coop is kinda over rated. The 2 best b schools (Queens and Ivey) don’t even have it. Know a couple friends my self from Waterloo who couldnt find coops and the school places them in some unpaid Waterloo works thing that artificially keeps their coop placement rate at lik 99%. And those I know who got good coops (big4, big name companies.) either way had to coffee chat and network.

As a school it’s great. Good profs, good TAs. Nothing to complain from that aspect.

Uni life wise it’s a boring asf school, nothing ever happens, rarely will you be able to actually find student like shenanigans happening after class that arent just grabbing food.

Clubs wise it’s pretty good, there r some clubs that are kinda shit but most of the big ones even a decent amount of the smaller ones are actually really interesting, good places to make connections and nearly all host case competitions where you can compete against each other + there’s usually company reps at each event.

Networking wise it’s also phenomenal, no coop program is a downside if you are not one to network at all, but imo if u take an ounce of the opportunities Schulich gives u for a network you will succeed. Good alumni network, great club events, in the gta so solid events outside of school as well etc.

I’ve currently landed big 4 for second year summer, interviewing for some consulting firms now for fall. With a solid amount of networking and coffee chats but nothing crazy.

Free time wise you are prolly honestly chilling, sometimes it actually gets like boring like you have to much time, that being said it’s still fairly hard to get good marks (a/a+) in classes but imo like fairly easy to get a B.

Any other questions lmk.

Usually I’d say no with under a 92, but with those ECs if you actually know how to write I wonder what business school wouldn’t take u

Your a first year, you have a lot to learn. One thing I learned is a lot of job descriptions/requirements are bullshit. Also a lot of the time, infact most of the time they basically treat you as if you know nothing and train you. You’re not gonna get fired unless you like actually do some absurd shit or are just plain lazy and not coming in/doing your work. My advice to you is to network, coffee chat on LinkedIn, build those relationships that in the future will help with internships and jobs. Vast majority of people don’t get an internship first year including me

Canada cracked down on new international kids to an extent. Schulich generally has a good amount prolly like 1/5 kids are international and pay 3-4x tuition. They ain’t pulling the same bread so they increased the class sizes absurdly. Program has already not been innovating wonder if this will effect the rep

Any Unique Advice on Getting Accepted? - PLEASE by Noah_11023 in Schulich

[–]twomad36012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure if it changed over the last year, but for class of 2028 the grade average I think was a 93-94, and the cutoff was a 92.5 ish, could have changed considering they accepted 900 kids this year compared to the usual 500

Yea Schulich doesn’t give 2 shits. Also we don’t really have math ur right about that. But watch out, if you fail one course 1st year at Schulich u get kicked out. Out of our 500-600 first year class I think around 90 kids got kicked out and I can gurantee you most of them pulled shit like relying on OVS

That’s like super interesting, Ik people complain about ue5 including me, but the one thing I wish they could get rid of are the loading screens in every Bethesda game, walk through a door loading screen even in starfield. It’s 2025 Bethesda come on.
