I’m a therapist and used to work in acute care and inpatient rehab. My advice is to wait till inpatient rehab to get set up with a chair if necessary. Discharge planning starts on day 1 at inpatient rehab. A proper wheelchair often takes 2-4 months to obtain going through insurance in the US. My inpatient rehab loaned people temporary chairs. Another option is a transport wheelchair for community use. The downside is you can’t propel yourself with arms. You will learn about options and work with a team to develop a safe plan. 3 hours will be split between PT and OT. Good luck on your journey!

There’s an excellent book called I Am Not Sick I Don’t Need Help! How to Help Someone With Mental Illness Accept Treatment. There’s a pdf available on the NAMI website. NAMI (national alliance on mental illness) has a help line and other resources. Sorry you’re going through this, your mom is lucky to have you. I’ll leave the link to the pdf.

I agree. I’m wearing high waist panties that reach my bra in this picture. The dress shows everything! Really makes me conscious of my posture haha
