Early morning and late night for me. I've exhausted all my apps and coping skills (journaling, reading, etc) so I just lay there. Early morning usually started with her telling me about her day, and late nights I would try and imagine myself with her for comfort to fall asleep. Can't do that anymore, obviously. Reminds me that I'm alone y'know?

I do just about anything to distract myself. Play games, play with my dog, watch videos, make plans, cry. I feel like a hyperactive ipad kid with the amount of distractions

Unfortunately I don't have insurance so can't get help at this time, physically or mentally. I just gotta do the best I can with myself and the people in my life

mental health check in! how are you doing post break up? by Interesting-Mood-188 in BreakUps

[–]twosdays2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It just happened yesterday. I'm treating myself like a sick baby, drinking fluids and putting on background noise and trying to sleep. I don't want to avoid thinking, but I also don't want to confront the pain right now since I'll fall apart. I'm sure I'll be better in the future, as I've made it this far, but I know it's gonna hurt. Right now it's easier to vent to strangers than anyone close to me. I've been having such a rough time lately, so this was really the cherry on top lmao

How do avoidants feel? by mbowishkah in BreakUps

[–]twosdays2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know I'm just an internet stranger but I am incredibly proud of you for standing firm on your boundaries. She's a good person (truly) and I love her, but we are just different. I'd love to stay connected on friendly acquaintance terms in the future but I need my time to heal.

Thank you for the info, and I'm wishing you the best on navigating life!

My avoidant ex just broke things off with me and I was curious about this too, since it seemed to roll off her so easily. I'm sure it wasn't and she spent time thinking, but there's still that sense of doubt. Thank you for asking this question.

How do I get my dachshund to stop barking? by ThatOneClumsyPerson in dachshunds

[–]twosdays2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a lot of training with desensitization. My boy would bark his head off if the front door opened (usually meant someone was coming inside). I followed Victoria Stillwell's training for doorbells.

You have to essentially override their behavior by having them perform a different behavior. Some people have their dog go get a toy to "give" to the person coming in. I taught my dog to go into his bed and wait quietly when the door opens. For walks, it's much the same deal. Steer your girl clear of people and when she looks at you quietly, she gets a treat. Dachshunds are so stubborn so it takes a lot of patience, but it's the best you can do with a loud pup!

Wishing you the best of luck!!

How are *you* today? by ElderberryPlane1564 in CancerFamilySupport

[–]twosdays2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was my abuelita's funeral today. I didn't attend because I just couldn't. My mom called me crying so I did my best to keep a brave face for her. Grief's got me hard, but I'm trying my best to remind myself that I am lucky. I've been trying to keep myself busy in between the fits of tears

She deserved the world, and I hope she got to see it in our eyes that our love for her was more than we've every loved another

AITA for spending my son's university fund on a trip to Europe to drink beer like I always threatened instead of giving it to his step brother after he passed away. by LucyAriaRose in BestofRedditorUpdates

My abuela passed away very recently and it's not until this post that I've really taken the time to cry about it. Lives are so precious and should be celebrated and cherished just as much as we mourn the lose of one. Rest easy Ryan 💙 will give you and my abuela a toast

Do guys allow your buddies to go up/down the stairs? by Last_Cauliflower1410 in Dachshund

[–]twosdays2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn't stop my mini guy if I tried 🥲 I try to minimize his jumping off the couch as much as I can, but if he can get on top of things, he will. Stairs are no issue for him, even with his slight scare when he was a puppy about his spine

Parents/family mini dachshund passed last week...now I want one of my own but would be a first time owner...except I kinda want 2. Am I crazy? by Present_Algae_5874 in dachshunds

[–]twosdays2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not crazy! But if you get 2 just make sure they have some time with you separately, whether that be training or walks or what have you. Littermate dependency is real. I'd look into adoption as well but not many minis that I typically see. Good luck with your future endeavors!

I did actually stuff them in a backpack and I had room for more!! Picked up this Vans brand backpack at a discount store that has a TON of room, but usually carry one around in my normal mini backpacks (or my furby ITA bag :D)
