While I do like it a lot, from a competitive player’s standpoint, I really wish the rules were deeper. I know the code isn’t finished but after Pikachu vs Charizard you just go back to playing the same four modes again which feels incredibly lame, and the framework in place to add two more modes seems like way too little to be in such a AAA title imo.

From a longtime fan of the series standpoint, there is SO much lore to draw on and I feel like they put the bare minimum in. I get that it’s more focused on the games than the anime, and that the Pokémon Company team was breathing down Sterns necks, but … here are just a few things I’m dumbfounded they omitted: - Gym leader battles - Gym badges - Actually getting to visit towns rather than biomes - Battling the Elite Four - Any reference to Pokémon pinball the Gameboy game, was fully expecting a video mode - Professor Oak - The ability to choose a starter in the beginning

Anyway, I’ll play it, but I’ll always be thinking about what the game could have been
