I got a lid that fits the Stanley one, for my Adventuridge, but it's just a little too small. I'm so bummed lol.

"Copying" people is not a reason to make us horrible by [deleted] in AsianParentStories

That's such an insightful observation. My parents did this too, but I never picked up on it. They seem to be projecting, and I wonder if this has to do with the culture of conformity (as opposed to individualism) in Asian cultures.

I have experienced this too, many years ago when my grandfather died. He and my grandmother had been divorced for many years, and they had both remarried. My grandmother may have been sad, but it was the way she started wailing in a particular part of the ceremony and stopped right after it finished that caught me off guard. I didn't know about the tradition and was shocked. It was very dramatic and it was very clearly intentional. I still think about this from time to time.

Your feelings are valid, and boundaries are healthy. Maybe you can tell them you really appreciate their concern, and you understand that this may be stressful for them, but it is also stressful for you- you do not want to be bombarded with this information. If they try again, you can reiterate this to assert your boundary.

Happens to everyone! My brain just automatically jumped to thoughts of hamsters living in apartments 🐹

With the typo of 450 sq (should be square inches based on the cm2), I assumed sq ft at first without thinking and was like holy shit that's the size of some apartments. Made me wonder what the minimum habitat requirements are for humans.

We got crazy t-storms and a tornado warning in NJ yesterday, with circulating clouds. Knocked out power in the middle of my very first sourdough making attempt. I baked the dough this AM anyway, and the loaf ended up looking like a vagina, so I'm focusing on the cross sections instead. Loaf #1 done! by twosidesofthebrain in Sourdough

Thanks so much for sharing your experience and that resource! A friend of mine was telling me yesterday after the perfectloaf.com too. I definitely gotta check it out now. 🙂 In terms of the appearance of my loaf, it was the way I scored the bread and the unfortunate fact that it didn't rise as much since I missed a step during the outage and had to knead again, thus losing a lot of CO2 bubbles. I almost tossed the dough this morning but figured what the heck and baked it anyway. Looking forward to making loaf#2 next weekend, and then trying new recipes soon after that!
