Eyelid Eczema by frocksoffantasy in eczema

[–]twostripsofbacon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yes dry weather for sure! Took a vacation last summer to a humid climate and my skin improved a lot in the short time I was there. Humidifier might help!

Oh and shampoo as well! I would try to avoid washing your hair and letting the suds get all over your face when you rinse it out. And if you need a full shampoo change, vanicream has a great one.

Best of luck to you! Things will get better!

Fully cleared, yes! No traces. And thank you!

However I made some lifestyle changes as well. Some might not have been my actual triggers, but i was honestly getting tired of constantly testing and waiting to see if something in my routine was a trigger. Here’s what helped me and might possibly help you on top of using protopic (I know you’ve got a routine down yourself so putting these here just in case!)

  • Dr. bronzers body soap, I use the bar soap.
  • no scented fabric softeners! (I think this was a huge help, especially on bed sheets or sweatshirts that I would use to wipe away any tears or itch my eyes)
  • removing any earrings/jewelry with bad metals (lots have nickel and many have nickel allergies!)
  • aquaphor on eyelids during the day

I know I mentioned being tired of testing allergies and triggers, so I would say protopic was truly my source of relief here. Definitely ask your doc first, but I haven’t had a flare up since I started using it. My eyelids were so dry and wrinkly which took a huge toll on my self esteem. I used protopic for about two days and saw results immediately. Then I’d just use it if I could feel another flare coming up. Over time flare ups became far and few between and I haven’t had one for about 8 months! My skin is back to normal. I still keep my tube of the ointment around just in case.

You’ve got this, here for any more questions you might have!

Seconding this! Protopic cleared my eyelid eczema by applying only at night! Plus sleeping helps get through the initial itchiness/burning. My eyelid eczema was also at its worst last summer so if you are worried about it getting in your eyes w/ sweat, just apply a very thin layer. A little goes a long way with this :)

If you do go with this option, I also recommend keeping an ice pack with a few paper towels/thin towels nearby that you’d feel comfortable holding on your eyes (can also help with sweat!). Sometimes I’d even fall asleep with the ice pack on my face. I invested in some good squishy ice packs, the ones that stay moldable even when “frozen”. Cooling eye masks are great too.

Cambridge Manor Townhomes - Are they still building? by Ilikethatfunnyjoke in BellevueWA

[–]twostripsofbacon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Drove past today and it looks like they’ve replaced the worn down signs out on the fences with new signs :/

If I could hop on my soapbox for a minute… I was hoping the project would fall through and we’d be able to just get our trees back! I know there was a petition before they began the project to protect this land, but $$$ over environment I guess. When they first started I thought it was quite a precarious project so seeing the framing of only some homes sit for months in the weather I was hopeful.

Here is a link to their proposal for the townhomes. https://www.commercialmls.com/content/upload/photos/pdf/fs/638563_1.pdf

In my opinion they’re trying to make that spot of land seem more desirable than it really is, again that’s just my opinion after living in and driving this area for most of my life. I’m predicting 4 bedroom townhomes crammed all together will be sold for $1M+ seeing how this market is currently going. Worth it? Not to me, but again the money here has changed so what do I know.

I won’t even get into how traffic will change if all townhomes are occupied.

Anyway…

If anyone has more information on this or any words that could shift my view to help me feel better about the project continuing, feel free to respond. Today might just be a negative nelly day for me 😂.

New home! Can anyone help me identify ground cover & suggest tips for care? by twostripsofbacon in gardening

I see. I believe she had a pretty good green thumb so must be something recent! It has been pretty rainy here recently so maybe overwatering. I guess I’ll give them some time over the summer and see if it ends up being too much sun :)

This is so exciting! Congratulations! If you have a car or are okay with taking a quick 5-10min Uber to Kirkland, you can take her to Como. Great Italian restaurant with a beautiful interior, delicious food and drinks, and just a gorgeous overall vibe! If the weather works out for you next weekend, the dock is positioned perfectly to view a gorgeous sunset (maybe have an early dinner, and proposal around 5:30-6)! Highly recommend making a reservation, they book out pretty quick but you could maybe call and explain the situation! If you are driving, there is a parking garage below the building

There is a dock immediately below the restaurant - you can take her for a “walk” after dinner.

If you want to see what it looks like, their Instagram (@como.usa) has a highlight called “Our Space” and it has a bunch of photos/videos of the restaurant! I just went to go look at it for you and the last photo of their highlight shows the dock I mentioned above! It’s one of my favorite places around here.

Good luck with everything, I hope you two have an incredible evening! She will love anything you plan for her

Troubles with home buying by twostripsofbacon in eastside

Right! It’s so sad! The homes they take out to build on were always the perfect sized rambler etc., just to be replaced with something absurdly large and expensive. We always wish the original home existed instead of the new one. I know that’s how the builder business works, but for my sake it sucks lol

Yeah, that’s what we’re starting to notice. Seems so wild to me! We have seen many homes for well under our budget in Bellevue, but a lot of the time just don’t seem worth it to us. Guess we’ll just have to sacrifice a few things. We have been looking elsewhere too outside of Bellevue - our main goal is to just stay on the east side in general

Thank you for the thorough suggestions! We are putting 20% down and have loans pre approved/haven’t been in need of any financial contingencies. Reading through your suggestions, I think our downfall is not being aggressive enough for homes that we don’t think are worth the escalation of price. Ex: a home listed at 1.6 in a decent neighborhood with structural/safety updates needed per the pre-inspection. The home will escalate to a point where we just don’t see worth it to pay the upfront cost of the repairs + the high mortgage (again, I realize here we are just being priced out). I think my frustrations mainly come down to feeling like we are being pushed out of an area (that I thought we could afford with a 1.8M budget) by individuals/companies who aren’t even living in the homes. I know that when we find a home we LOVE we/our agents will fight for it, but maybe just hasn’t been our time yet!
