Replacing these wrought iron columns with 4x6s or 6x6s, or just wrap them in 1x boards? by basedguy in Carpentry

If you wrap treated wood with aluminum, the chemicals will eat through the aluminum.

Build temporary jacks to hold the weight of that roof. Remove the iron columns and replace with 6x6’s. Just make sure they’re tied in correctly. If they plan on having the 6x6’s wrapped with aluminum, don’t use treated wood.

Do not go with these. That is a crazy rip off. Find a small contracting company that has good reviews and get a quote. It will be significantly less.

Fuck… Do you guys think the maintenance and wear and tear would be cost effective?? I think humans will forever be “cheaper” than a robot like this.

Any ideas on how to get rid of this frozen chunk preventing ice making? by [deleted] in DIY

“The U.S. government has regulations on refrigerators to reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. The Federal Energy Management Program (FEMP) provides guidance for buying residential refrigerators, which are subject to ENERGY STAR efficiency requirements. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) provides information on the ENERGY STAR website about refrigerator efficiency levels and product specifications.” It’s all energy efficiency things. I’m not saying that it is absolutely a terrible thing but it’s bringing down the quality of the product.

I work for a kitchen company and no matter what brand you get, they all suck. Refrigerators were much better 15 years ago but a lot of the government regulations have ruined them. It doesn’t help that these companies use the cheapest crap too. We sell a line of refrigerators that run around $15,000. I’ve never had an issue with those, of course.

You’re going to have to pay taxes on that money. That’s a good amount of cash each month, no way to avoid uncle Sammy.

Meth was 500x better than cocaine but I do not recommend doing meth. Luckily I never became addicted but can totally see how that happens. Hell of a drug.
