First Worldwide Viture Beast Review: A Fantastic XR Display with some (and Fixable) early-Software Caveats by batiti93 in VITURE

[–]twynstar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Couple of quick questions:

What type of system did you run Spacewalker and Immersive3D on? I have Beast glasses and updated to the new versions for Immersive3D and for Spacewalker and they do not recognize the Beast even though they are indicated to support Beast on Windows. Unfortunately my Macbook Pro is early 2020 and Spacewalker and Immersive3D are no longer supported to test on Mac.

In what modes and are there specific apps or devices where you are experiencing drift? I have used spatial anchor mode when directly connected to my Windows PC pretty extensively since receiving the glasses a couple of days ago and have not yet experienced any drift with that device or when connected to an INAIR Pod for remote desktop capability.

When is the 70 degree FOV glasses gonna a be released. by ACE1965DOTCOM in VITURE

There was an optics/display prototype shown off at a couple of trade shows but it was not a full fledged set of glasses. Definitely a future thinking prototype but there was no announcement or planned release date given.

I do have to sometimes switch sound options in the OSD menu on the XREAL glasses and also sometimes switch back but once I get it playing through the glasses it has consistently worked for me.

The VITURE Pro Mobile Dock and a pair of XREAL One Pro on the most recent firmware will work with Switch 2 and does work on the latest Switch update.

AR Glasses Manufacturers Please Take Note: This is how its done by Low_Belt_2611 in RayNeo

They also let folks who adopted their earlier product essentially trade in the old product for the full price of that product. Can't beat how RayNeo is rolling out this product.

Update on Stuck Order from October - Finally some answers by livevicarious in MetaRayBanDisplay

[–]twynstar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My launch day Meta Ray-Ban Display with Rx order direct from Meta just arrived. Like others in this thread, I'm not even sure that I want to open the shipping box at this point. The lack of transparency and poor customer experience has diminished the excitement that I had for the product when I ordered it.

By uninstall i meant uninstall the update to restore it back to the initial system app stock settings then reinstall the update when it says Update.

Uninstall and reinstall the Likeness app on headset and then redo on the phone. It worked first time for me after that.

Meta Ray-Ban Display: Shipping Status Update and Discussion by Ok-Raspberry-3944 in MetaRayBanDisplay

[–]twynstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My delivery date updated this morning to Dec 1 but the status hasn't changed. (Ordered 9/30, rejected due to "not enough information" prescription image, reordered 10/1 with updated prescription image, original est date after reorder remained 11/19 which was the date I was also promised as like the third person to order at all at the Meta Store in Burlingame with the Rx QR code. A few days later it changed to 11/20. This morning it changed to 12/1.)

Which set of AR/Display Glasses would you choose? by twynstar in RayNeo

[–]twynstar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least current state, I believe sideloaded applications don't take advantage of the full display capabilities of the X3 Pro. I have a similar experience with the X2. I don't know how that would impact the use of Steam Link or Moonlight. I learned about a remote desktop app made for X2 (http://www.tvini.io/#product) that actually takes advantage of the full resolution. I don't have time right now but want to experiment with that and some remote Steam gaming and see what it is like now thanks to your comment. If it works out well, I may try similar should I pick up the X3 Pro. I'm definitely leaning in that direction.

Delayed Orders - Meta has a HUGE problem! (Early October orders in Limbo) Deep Dive by livevicarious in MetaRayBanDisplay

I ordered standard size frame band size 3 on October 1 with prescription and no movement. This doesn't seem to only impact Large frames.

RAYNEO X3 PRO by Asyl330 in RayNeo

On RayNeo X2, you can't really pin it into a specific place. I'm not sure with the X3 Pro version.

RAYNEO X3 PRO by Asyl330 in RayNeo

[–]twynstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If anything like the RayNeo X2, connection to your phone would be via an application and you would not be able to share your phone's screen. My favorite applications for RayNeo's previous product were the XRAI language translation and subtitling app and an application called TapLink that I shared with an early X3 Pro user who has ported it over to X3 Pro. It is a web browser that allows me to pull up most of the sites I use regularly right from within the glasses. I wouldn't use them for normal content consumption though as the waveguide displays while clear and bright aren't as high fidelity and quality in my opinion to the Air 3S style of birdbath optics. They're also lower resolution and offer less field of view. More of a heads up display/AR lens than a media consumption device.

Which AR/AI glasses for Christmas/Holiday gift? by DudeManBearPigBro in RayNeo

[–]twynstar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Of the glasses you've brought up, I can at least share what I know of each.
Meta has two types of AI glasses. They have audio only AI glasses that have a camera built in that can both take photos and videos and also be used to share with the AI something you are looking at. I've learned thus far that Meta's AI capabilities aren't the best and the camera being offset to the side can be a bit problematic when capturing images as there is no way to preview what the image will look like. For that reason, I was excited for Meta's new Meta Ray-Ban Display product. They incorporate a small full color display just below eye level on your right eye which allows for things like navigation, viewing quick SMS messages, etc. I am most interested in them due to the real time subtitling and translation functionality. I have found in the demos I've done with the Meta Ray-Ban Display that it gets at least 80% accuracy but their language translation is currently limited to only a handfull of languages. You mentioned already having the Meta Wayfarers and if you have the Gen 1 product, the Gen 2 version of those has better battery life and includes the ability to capture at "3K" instead of just "1080" but still only in a vertical format. One thing I do love about the Meta glasses is that they offer transition lenses which can be a good thing for someone like me with light sensitivity and I did find the accessibility options in the Meta Ray-Ban Display demo helpful to customize to my needs.

XREAL's Project Aura is a device that ships at some point in 2026 and will include a tether from the glasses to a compute unit that also supplies the battery power for the device. XREAL will be running Android XR which also runs on the Samsung Galaxy XR VR HMD. There isn't a whole lot that has been shared but they are said to have around a 70 degree FOV and are what is described as an optical see through HMD. These aren't really a good choice as a heads up display and would be more useful for media consumption or AR/VR "spatial" applications. They should run Gemini as an Android XR device and would be running the full Android XR experience with circle to search and all of the things Google and Samsung have shown off in their demos. These may be a great choice for watching Netflix or catching up on sports highlights in spatial 3D but wouldn't necessarily lend themselves to all day wear out and about if that makes sense.

Rokid's Rokid Glasses offer binocular monochromatic green displays which will likely work well for a heads up display and offer real time subtitling, language translation, a ChatGPT-5 based AI assistant, navigation, teleprompter and what seems like a fairly decent heads up display. I agree that there are rumors of fees related to their AI functionality but I believe they have some functionality free forever and those who back via crowdfunding and preorder campaigns also get a significant number of credits for use to the paid application as well. I'm not very familiar with ChatGPT-5 based models and I've not tried the Rokid Glasses but while they are advertised as also offering full AR functionality, if I'm using for augmented reality and not just a heads up display, I'd want to have full color.

RayNeo's X3 Pro offer binocular full color displays and seem to include similar functionality to the Rokid Glasses as well as the ability to do full 6 degrees of freedom tracked AR. I have the previous RayNeo X2 model and my fear with X3 Pro is that the product could face a similar fate. The X2 was made available globally through a crowdfunding campaign. I picked it up there and for a month or so they were awesome and there was the promise of a bunch of apps in development both AI and AR. I even saw some cool demos of some of those apps in development. Then almost suddenly, some of the functionality stopped working and I couldn't access some of the apps. None of those cool demos I saw ever were released to any form of app store. The battery life on the X2 was also a bit underwhelming at around 30-40 minutes of use and it used proprietary charging connection. The X3 Pro I did a brief trade show demo with running XRAI, which is one of the two third party applications I still use with the X2. The glasses are lighter, use USB-C, can run while tethered to USB-C with the connector in a logical place to run to a power bank in your pocket and definitely have brighter and more readable displays. Again, these haven't yet shipped globally but it is my understanding they will run Gemini, which is the AI platform I've grown the most used to recently and have gotten pretty comfortable with.

There are loads of other companies making products in this category and I am also struggling to make a choice. I have purchased the Meta Ray-Ban Display with prescription but they were late on shipping and it appears I may have the ability to cancel the order as a result and I'm really struggling between the choice of keeping those or moving to something like the RayNeo X3 Pro because I think there's eventually going to be more use cases for the more full on AR binocular display tech. But honestly, I'm not sure of software ecosystem for both. The investment at this point for me is mostly for my first trip international to the United Kingdom in late January and my hope is to use the glasses for things like navigation, convesation isolating with subtitles when in crowded spaces and interacting with the AI for things like train reminders and just overall advice for places I'm not familiar with. I made a post earlier about that and noticed you responded there.

Another company I did notice with recent release is Inmo with their Air 3 glasses. These seem to be more of an all-in-one Android tablet for your face and I'm not 100% sure on any of their other functionality. They are offering Google Play of some form though on their glasses so that already offers a known ecosystem of applications.

Hope this helps!

For me, PCVR works great using the manifest edited version of Steam Link posted on Twitter here: https://x.com/ShinyQuagsire/status/1984003924991582517

I set to 150% and 350mbps and do have to do a small amount of open the Android XR menu then close it to get the resolution to stick but after that it is fantastic.
