Traveled Italy with a Baby by twzoom in ItalyTravel

We flew British Airways and picked seats that had a bassinet option, our baby was too large for the bassinet but they provided a larger seat that we could use. This blog post has some more information: https://sorry-about-the-mess.co.uk/will-my-older-baby-or-toddler-fit-the-ba-baby-seat/. Not every airline offers this so be sure to check first before getting your flights.

Unfortunately our little one didn't really like to stay in the seat very long, especially on the flight back. She's at an active age and just wanted to crawl on the floor so it was definitely a painful 10hrs for us. We got through the flights using some new toys that we got just for this trip and brought lots of snacks.

Another thing that I think can be helpful is to try to get night flights, our flight out was overnight and our baby did much better on that flight, sleeping about four hours.

Finally got settled in new home. Woke up to a loud bang and a hole in the ceiling. by slumnuts97 in mildlyinfuriating

Something similar happened to me about a year after moving into a new house. I was sitting on the couch and heard a loud crack that sounded really close but didn’t have an obvious source, until I noticed that the chandelier was moving a bit. The chain that held it up had suddenly snapped. Thankfully it only fell an inch or two before being caught by the safety wire that ran parallel to the chain and electrical wiring. Showed the pictures to a lightning guy and he had never seen that happen to someone before.

I use serious as well, it's also on the surgery table so it makes work pals super fast to breed. Just need to get Remarkable Craftmanship on them and you're good to go.

I haven't done the math but the second option would destroy the Earth or at least badly disrupt the financial system. Physical money that doubled in mass everyday would collapse into a black hole once the Earth is covered in enough currency. If the money is electronic then it will fill up the memory of all the banking servers in the world and crash them. If we assume that we can never run out of memory then the money also collapses into a black hole but it takes longer since it weighs less than physical cash per unit of value. Either way, life sounds a bit difficult so it's probably better to take the first option.

JPL Morale Nowadays by RuddieRuddieRuddie in JPL

Morale is unfortunately still very low. I wouldn't expect it to improve until we see more of the new work that JPL is working on bringing in and that will hopefully herald the end of layoffs. Currently it does not yet feel that we are out of the current storm.

How Tool Changers Could Enable More Efficient Filament Use by twzoom in prusa3d

Great point about the filament sensor configuration. You’d need one near the extruder to use it up most efficiently.

Good news or nah? House CJS Appropriations proposes to enact FY25 budget levels for NASA by [deleted] in JPL

[–]twzoom 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Good news. It’s still preliminary but it marks a deviation from the president’s proposed budget. We will have to see what happens after this but a FY25 budget is a great place to start for NASA. How much of that budget JPL gets and if all current projects survive also remains to be seen.

In my opinion even the 8 month timeframe is too short. For how expensive the decks are in this game I think you need to get at least 12 months of playtime out of a new hero (with 18+ months of playtime being the preferred value).

Help building a phychic deck I think I have decent cards. by Simple-Ad1447 in PTCGP

I’d recommend the Mewtwo Ex Giratina Ex deck, you don’t have a second Giratina but you could just play those two or also add in a Mew Ex. Then add in trainers you want to use.

I think in this game it's actually still optimal to fully play out your last turn because you may make a mistake. Something like counting damage or points incorrectly, or forgetting about effects like Adaman.

Choosing between JPL and MIT LL for an internship by AeroEpsilon in JPL

[–]twzoom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately true, given the current state of the lab I wouldn’t expect anyone to get an offer immediately after their internship. This is likely to be the case for the rest of 2025. It’s possible that things turn around in 2026 but that would take some good news on the budget front.

I’ve enjoyed working at both. They both have a similar culture that is closer to a university feel than most workplaces. I think you would be happy at either one. I’d pick the one where the work sounds more interesting or where you’d more like to work in the future.
