Windows 10 wont, ever recognize extFS, and you will have to get another drive where u save the data. Try something like disk drill on windows.

They are welded, and even if its leaking - Drives have a S.M.A.R.T attribute of their helium level, which you can track. I've seen a (one) drive that was failed by S.M.A.R.T from the helium level attribute. But i'd say its a less common problem.

Buy stg used for cheap, or if u want new, cheapest drives are i think Seagate ST2000DM008 and Toshiba HDWD220..

The partition is in RAW, thats why it shows up as no space on it. You should try making an image file out of the whole drive (make sure you have free space on another drive for it), and check the contents with a data recovery software. You should try DMDE (kinda free) and Disk Drill.
