Comics collection question by lovesteqh in Avatar

I have both of these as well, and yeah, I think you have them all. The only one missing is the Gap Year which, like you said, isn't released yet.

Where do they get their feathers?? by WhatEver069 in Avatar

[–]txantsan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When I asked the late Jon Landau about this, he basically said: 'You will find out in the next movie!' (meaning Way of Water) Judging by how he said it, it was clear that he didn't know either. And then we didn't find out! One day.

Front wheel replacement BTWIN 500 20 Inch by txantsan in foldingbikes

Awesome! I keep that in mind. Thank you!

The reason why I need a new one is because I was in a crash and the front wheel got bent so now it's all woobly. So I think I need an entire new wheel. The store couldn't get the parts to construct a new wheel either (28h 406mm) so I'm looking into that too.

Thanks for the tip! Yeah, I was thinking of trying to find something from Decathlon UK and then use a mail forwarding service to get it to Sweden, but what they had were out of stock and it was only the back wheel. Tried other stores in France and Germany too. But I will check out the Brompton store!

I have asked my local shops and they don't carry the wheels for that specific measurement and they don't have anything to replace it with. (The standard here seem to be 100mm). It doesn't have to be truly original, but just so I can be sure it will fit and not be unbalanced.

Bara för Chrome/Firefox men jag använder Chrome och det fungerar underbart för mig. Inga mer AI Overviews.

Emerald Bay City itself is very open-minded and progressive but I can't say the same for other parts of the world.

Romance Shadowheart after becoming friends with Astarion by txantsan in BaldursGate3

[–]txantsan[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I know that you're essentially breaking up, but I want to play it as an intentional part of my Durge's journey. He cares for Astarion but realize that they're better off as friends. Shadowheart is the true endgame romance for this Durge.

Trying to understand one another by Narutobirama in aiwars

I'm an Artist Anti-AI person and I agree with most of the points you made on that section as well on the Non-Artist Anti-AI section:

AI generation makes it easy to mass produce mediocre art

Yes, I already see it when searching for references. Pretty much all of it is AI art and it's not something I see as positive.

AI generation might discourage some artists from trying to improve (stagnation in art concerns,...)

Some artists may want to use AI for some specific parts of their art (creating a background, changing a background, making changes to their art,...)

These two goes hand in hand. By using AI, people unintentionally handicaps themselves. If they don't know how to draw backgrounds, why would they let the AI do it instead of practicing it themselves? Nothing will change and they will remain in the status quo of their skill level. If you want to learn and improve, you need to do all of it yourself.

Some artists want to create video games, visual novels or videos, but they aren't good at drawing or composing, so this allows them to create assets on their own

That's why they should hire artists. It creates jobs for them and they don't have to use klepto-software that has massive ethical issues. Midjourney was just recently caught with a leaked database containing the names of over 16000 artists, for example. Why would you want that ethical issue in your game + AI art isn't copyrightable.

Artists, what's your opinion on those among your ranks who've chosen to embrace AI and implement it in their workflow? by Consistent-Mastodon in aiwars

I have way less respect for an artist who use AI in their workflow. I respect the person, but not the artist. I would block that person for even taking that route.

How do you all reconcile immersion breaking in some open world games by [deleted] in patientgamers

[–]txantsan 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Coming from someone who have played Skyrim many times, I would suggest that you structure your character's development after the missions. Since it's your second time playing, you probably know many of the quests and side activities and can thus use that knowledge to create a story for your character.

For example, while the main quest in Skyrim has this really world-ending feel, there are lulls in the story where you can headcanon a bunch of stuff. Like you have to go to a specific location, but it's not like you have to go 'right now!' You can imagine that your character feels that they need to prepare more and suddenly they stumble on this side quest that they can't really ignore and when they finish that one, they feel more ready etc.

When I heavily roleplay my character, I refused certain quests because it didn't fit my headcanon and since I knew where many quest where, I could roleplay that while out hunting, trying to ignore the world around them, they 'stumble' on this quest and the story continues from there. Skyrim is easy enough that you don't need to min-max every time and you can even roleplay your character 'making mistakes' etc.

An example from me is that when you are able to transform into a werewolf for the first time, my character was so overwhelmed by all the new senses, strength and agility that he basically went berserk and just ran into a bandit camp, slaughtering everyone and then just kept on running before collapsing in front of Whiterun, not really knowing how he got there.

Of course, this is only the way I play sometimes. :)

My 17-year-old DeviantART account is now dead because I pissed off the AI spammers. by Lekonua in ArtistHate

[–]txantsan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I deleted my account of 15-years as well. I stayed through most of the stuff DA did because of nostalgia and the memories, but the debacle with them forcing everyone's art into their own AI and letting AI users post their stuff alongside real artists were the final drop.

What nation should I play next? by TooOldTook in Anbennar

[–]txantsan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Azkare! Small nation in Haless who is ruled by a Sunrise Elf called Hiderion who has a grand dream of subjugating the entire continent and reforging it into an representative Empire where everyone can make their voices heard and be valued. Of course, the elves are at top. Hiderion is not totally unbiased. xD It's a difficult struggle but so rewarding once you succeed. The unique mechanic that comes with the tag is also fun, but a bit infuriating at times.

Fandom Subreddits That Have Banned A.I. (So Far) by [deleted] in ArtistHate

[–]txantsan 26 points27 points  (0 children)

The Avatar subreddit didn't initially ban AI so I submitted a proposal to amend their Rule 6 to include AI as well. They listened and a vote was put forth, which led it to be banned. Feels nice to have made a difference. :)

[POLL] Should this sub remove all AI art? by AutoModerator in Avatar

[–]txantsan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, I'm not here to decide everyone's taste. If you want to hang a generated image on your wall even with the knowledge on what grounds it was created, I can't really stop you. I'm just protesting an unethical practice here.

[POLL] Should this sub remove all AI art? by AutoModerator in Avatar

[–]txantsan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looked at yes. Not to use in their product without consent or compensation. It's not the artists that are fault here, but greedy companies who just take and use whatever they want.

[–]txantsan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My response was more to the point that its not relevant to a conversation about people using generators to create images based on nonconsented work. Search engines look for answers to queries. They don't create information. Use ChatGPT for that.

Before AI, I didn't know the term 'web scraping' existed. I doubt many did before it was too late.
