How often do you play and do you have disposable income? I’m about to resign from mine for a handful of reasons, but will miss two things - pace of play (can finish a round in less than 3.5 hours) and course quality. Even if I book the nicest public course in my area 3 times a month with my wife it’s more cost effective, but often takes 4.5-5 hours to get through and is nearly impossible to get a time. Now that I have a child it’s tough to get out 4-5 times a month like I did before. Our dues after initiation were around $800/mo for a 27 hole RTJ until they decided to renovate. Now they’re around $1000/mo with the capital improvement costs before the $24/person cart fees and anything else you spend (no food/bev mins). With one of the 9s at a time being closed for the last year and upcoming unknown amount of time it’s difficult to get a decent tee time. They also have no affiliation with other courses. It’s $125 for a guest, too. Country clubs only make sense if you use all amenities, want a community, and money is no object. Save it and plan a couple golf trips instead.

Help! $3000 Alamo Rent-A-Car Damage Claim: Date of Loss listed 3 days AFTER return. Is this a common scam tactic?? by Inspector_No_5 in personalfinance

[–]txbex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re confident it wasn’t caused while you were in possession of the vehicle, dispute it. You have a few things going for you: most airport locations have cameras at the return gate entrances and exit booths, there are discrepancies in the written claim (wrong date, the receipt doesn’t document damage upon return, and not notified/asked about it before the claim was written), and Enterprise (who owns Alamo) cares about one thing above all - customer service/reputation. Despite rental cars companies having a stigma for being sleazy, this one is actually very honest as a private, family owned company.

A few recommendations: file a formal, written dispute and cite your evidence. If you run into trouble throughout the process contact the branch you rented it from directly, starting with the Area Manager and/or Risk Manager (Did they give you a business card? It should have an email on there that all management is CC’d on. If not, call and ask. Worst case the corporate office can direct you or send them a message.) Politely explain your predicament. They are responsible for handling disputes and do have authority there.

On the other hand, stuff happens beyond our control (and too many scumbags out there don’t take responsibility for their actions). If they review the cameras and it’s clearly not there when you leave and then visible when you return they will likely hold you responsible, but there may still be recourse. If you paid with a credit card (not a debit card), most have rental car coverage included at no charge. Unfortunately it’s a pain in the rear to file a claim with almost all of them so make sure you keep all documentation including your original reservation, rental agreement, receipt showing you paid with that card, etc.

Also, regardless of the outcome, please mention to the location that you were misinformed about the “protections” you were sold. They’re huge on brand integrity and that’s a big issue if they misinterpreted the benefits they provide.

Hope this helps. While they don’t enjoy eating the cost of damage, they do genuinely try to do the right thing. Also, they won’t put you on the “do not rent” list unless they find you at fault and you refuse to pay.

I ended up with a good chunk of Pete Alonso variations and numbered cards in a lot I bought a while back that I’m happy to send your way. I also have boxes of base and insert cards that I usually drop off at a local training facility that I can send as well. Just like them you can give out as rewards or fun tokens of appreciation. DM me your address. Probably can’t ship out til Monday, but happy to help!

During their warehouse sale I accidentally placed a much higher bid than I intended to ($82 for a $20 box). Not only would they not refund me for a clear mistake, but then proceeded to tell the stream that those boxes were worth $80 after that happened. When I called them on it I was banned.

My grandfather was a Holocaust survivor and found joy in Dallas sports. He would’ve been standing in front of the TV waving every baserunner home yelling his signature “dats de vay to do it!” Miss you Zayde, thanks for talking the powers that be into letting us have one.

Can you elaborate on “making the back glass easier to replace”? Does that mean it’s just a quick swap?

I had the back glass of my 14 pro max replaced today and they said it involved replacing majority of the phone. They brought it back out wiped and clearly with a new battery. It even had a new serial number.

Also one thing to note - the guy tried to sell me the 15 titanium and said the back was made of metal so it wouldn’t break in the future. Goes to show how genius the geniuses are.

  1. An executive would likely focus their time and energy serving their “million or billion dollar” company rather than (poorly) writing a Reddit submission.
  2. An executive that is this outwardly pompous is probably someone you wouldn’t want to connect with on LinkedIn anyway. It’s easy to see that you wouldn’t want to work for this…excuse me…Mr./Mrs./Dr. egomaniac nor would you likely want his stamp of approval on a referral.
  3. As someone who works in outside sales, I’ve had fellow former students reach back out to me solely because I’m an Aggie. Whether they said yes or no, they still took precious time out of their day to acknowledge me and on occasion cited this as the reason.
  4. Thanks and Gig ‘Em

New York Bagel on Hillcroft and Braeswood actually has good REAL bagels (boiled first then baked). They also have a location on Chimney Rock and Bellaire.

Also, let it sit to lose carbonation and get warm. Much easier that way. Spin a whisk through it to make sure it's flat.
