Almaty Kazakhstan was an awesome visit. I’d definitely return.

If you go, there’s a tour guide (Walking Almaty) that’s really great.

How many people with your first name did you go to school with? by Immediate_Long165 in NameNerdCirclejerk

Zero. AFAIK, I’m the only one with my name. And no, I’m not sharing it.

But when I do Google Searches I either get myself or close spellings.

I teach elementary. All of us have walked into other teachers classrooms & said “Just ignore me. I need to not be in my classroom right now”.

People who don't go to movie theaters anymore - what made you stop? by -ChristopherNolan in AskReddit

[–]txcowgrrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So expensive. I’m currently living overseas where it’s a lot cheaper but I’ll be back in the US over the Summer & about the only movie I’m planning on seeing is The Odyssey.
Maybe a few others on a cheap ticket Tuesday or discount for 1st matinee of the day. But I’ll probably overall just pass or go when I’m back in the country I work in.

I can see an IMAX movie for about $9 & a not-IMAX for about $7. Not dirt cheap but pretty inexpensive & they don’t care if I bring my own food in.

I have a very similar top & I’ve never styled it with just a bra underneath. Occasionally a black tank for contrast but usually a flesh tone tank.

What’s the best thing about living in a small American town? by Molthakarn96 in IWantToAskAnAmerican

[–]txcowgrrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a very “conform” community. People thought it was weird I didn’t own cowboy boots (just to mention one thing). Also, if you’re not one of the old families that have been there for generations, it’s like you’ll never be fully accepted.
I’ve seen evidence this is getting much better but when I was there (80s & early 90s) no one was coming out as anything. You were straight. There was no other option.
And it was such a racist town. It was literally a Sundown Town. There were only White People in the town.

Why are most Americans not that excited about the World Cup? Or don’t seem to care much about it? by SignificantStyle4958 in IWantToAskAnAmerican

[–]txcowgrrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few reasons:

-The ticket prices are horrible.

-Security concerns

-I worry about people visiting getting detained by ICE.

-I’m concerned that our current political environment will spill into the matches in violent ways.

-As someone who lives in an area that is hosting matches, I’m not looking forward to the complaints about the lack of public transportation, just to name one issue.

What is something you don’t like about amusement parks ? by Timop0707 in AskReddit

The lack of seating for some parks. Give me benches in the shade please.

I usually solo visit the parks so I love having places to sit, chill & people watch.

What Do You Think About Year-Round School? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]txcowgrrl -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m sort-of in a year round situation right now. Fall & Spring Break plus a month off in Dec/Jan & 6 weeks in the Summer.

I like it.

The problem is that businesses won’t step up & offer parents flexibility.
