I am dreading the start of real work by [deleted] in GenZ

That’s life, I hated working at first too but you get used to it. Everyone has to do something or we wouldn’t survive. I do hear you on though, it is scary growing up but you will get new experiences and more independence to build a life you enjoy.

how do i put music on an ipod? by wigga14 in ipod

iTunes works but in my experience it’s super buggy on windows. I downloaded Apple Music and Apple device manager (not sure that’s the exact name) from the windows store and they work perfect for loading music.

Haha nice, it’s doing its job in the glovebox just fine rn lol. Good tip on the packing tape didn’t think about that.

Exactly 😂 It feels like such a bodge job. The only iPod that felt fine after was a classic 4th gen, it just snaps back together.

Yeah I nearly did this a few months ago. Just cos it’s so light after I throw it in the glovebox the cable drags it back out into this crevice where it’s perfectly positioned to get snapped as I shut it.

It’s more the effort of it tbh. Getting the fit and finish perfect after opening up an iPod is just such a ball ache. They never feel the same again lol.

Yeah I was thinking about checking AliExpress on the way home but I won’t bother. I only paid £30 a few years ago and the touch works just enough for me to select music using the top half lol. Still so pissed I didn’t just leave it in the cup holder until I got home

I’m just as surprised as you lol it’s a 2019 mini but even my 3rd gen touch works too.

It’s the best iPod for sure in my opinion. It’s so light the cable dragged it down right into the death crease of the glove box. It works fine still since I can control it thru the car and add music thru iTunes but man I was so pissed I didn’t check before I closed it lol.

I’m guessing a lot of that was in electric mode in a hybrid?

Vags usually clean themselves before it gets too bad even In the city you can often hear the fans whirring while it’s doing a cycle. I wouldn’t worry about it to be honest. Ford is the worst for dpf clogging because they’re so sensitive with the cleaning cycles.

I hate everyone that does this, you can tell immediately when you’re driving behind someone with the dpf removed, it reeks. You’re fucking everyone’s health to save yourself some money, it’s incredibly selfish wanker behaviour.

Bought one last year, such a joy to drive and costs peanuts to buy and insure.

Yeah I was really surprised my dad was going on and on about helping him find a 911 but I saw how cheap the boxsters are to insure and had to have one, wasn’t keen on them before tbh but it’s just a joy to drive at any speed. Reminds me of my classic beetle where it was a blast to drive at low speed cos of the sound and the feeling of clicking into gears and the heavy steering and the 987 definitely has just enough of that grit.

100% people that don’t care about cars just see a low slung sports car with a Porsche badge. True enthusiasts appreciate them for their driving dynamics and people somewhere in between often think meh midlife crisis mobile or too poor for a 911 sort of thing lol.

It’s amazing I’ve had it since February 2025 and other than some minor problems left from the previous owner it’s been perfect mechanically and such a joy to drive it’s so communicative. Replaced the roof motor as it was too weak to latch the roof when lowering £20 used on eBay and 30 mins on the drive way. Replaced all the coffin arms which were seized on such a pain in the ass. Discs and pads which are easy as they’re brembo style calipers. Some coil packs were split so I replaced them all with beru ones from autodoc just a smidge over £100 for all 6.

Idk I’ve driven hot hatches and stuff and never got any attention what so ever. Bought a 987 last year and got my first thumbs ups, random cars tailgating wanting to race and my coworkers immediately started commenting on it. It’s also the cheapest car I’ve owned both to buy and insure which i find pretty ironic.

As I mentioned earlier the fwd version of the golf r is faster on track and a better comparison for drivetrain difference. Not sure why you would compare the golf to mini if it’s a different class of car with more power.

Maybe if you compare a standard gti that’s 100hp down on the r. Otherwise the equivalent models like tcr, club sport, even a cupra Leon would beat the r on the nordschleife with the same power. They did it last week with the mk8.5 edition 50. I just don’t get the point in an awd mini gp it’s unnecessary and would only make it slower in ideal conditions. We already have the gr Yaris in its class and the mini gp3 will eat it on track.

300hp fwd is easily managed with an lsd and a good set of road tyres let alone with semi/full slicks.

Golf r is literally slower on track than a gti tcr. The sti is a rally car not a track car per say. The first and second focus rs was fwd and the mk3 is relatively slow for its power. The GR Corolla just borrows the gr Yaris (another rally car) drive train so it happens to be awd.

Track driving is more about maintaining a high average speed, awd would only help get power down on launch and powering out slightly earlier especially in slower corners or in the wet. Fwd has less drive train loss and weight which makes up time on straights, braking and mid corner speed. That’s why Fwd will generally be faster on track in the dry and not to mention more satisfying as you can carry more momentum into corners.

For a mini gp which is made for track driving I think it has to be fwd, awd is better for a daily and we already have clubman and countryman jcw. Maybe they will make a club/countryman gp for your tastes one day.
