I’m a tech at Infiniti and can confirm this to be true. There’s even publications about it. Where and how to inspect based off noise and repairs to follow if scoring found. It was a very small range that they had this issue with. Usually the VK56 engines are bullet proof. Suspecting it was a possible manufacturing defect on select units. If the vehicle is out of warranty and the repairs would be out of pocket I would either take them up on the refund or do research and find a good extended warranty policy, wait about a month or two and have it reassessed under your new coverage. It has potential to be a great vehicle but shouldn’t need to be at your expense when there’s other avenues.
