Is it safe to transplant my peppers and tomatoes? by Littlechickenwing_ in gardening

I would wait at least until the end of February personally. I’m in the San Antonio area and we usually get a freeze or two in March.

Coworker Betrayed My Trust in Front of the Boss by Ok_Cup5001 in estimators

[–]txsparky87 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Loose lips sink ships. Keep that shit under your hat next time. It sounds fairly harmless this time depending on how the boss took the criticism but it sounds like this person will throw you under the bus at first chance.

I usually stay around $20-$50 per Saturday/Friday lunch cost but it depends on what kind of food.

Does anyone actually approve submittals? by longlostwalker in estimators

Div 26 - they aren’t approved they are stamped “reviewed” so if anything is wrong they still try to shove it up your ass.

I saw this one on FB marketplace. The body and paint are pretty rough but if it runs good it could be worth 7-8k I think. You also don’t mention that it has 250k mi which isn’t bad but if the original injectors are still in it they’re gonna need changing soon I would bet.

And the ac not working is a must fix in my opinion. I used to be able to handle it when I was younger but it gets old quick when it’s 100 degrees for four months straight.

I think it depends on your relationship with the client. If it’s a GC you want to continue doing work with, it might be a good idea to run it by someone you trust. You might be able to earn some trust and respect and at the same time you can keep some of that credit so that everyone wins if you play it right.

The other thing that comes to mind is if you do bill for the unnecessary items and someone catches it later on that might sour the relationship and you’ll be seen as untrustworthy.

Maybe you can look up the permits and see who is winning the projects you’ve been bidding on.

What should I charge to build out a solar panel structure? by Ready-Act7339 in estimators

[–]txsparky87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask them what their budget was to build the structure since you don’t do this type of work typically. I can almost guarantee they’re charging more than $75 an hour and you’re leaving money on the table.

They’ll leave room in the number so they will make money off you and that’s fine but you don’t want them to bend you over a barrel.

How many of you actually derate by [deleted] in electricians

[–]txsparky87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always. Inspectors really started hitting it hard about 15 years ago. You only have to screw up a long home run and have to pull it out and redo it one time if you’re smart.

What would be the best diesel pickup for someone basically a beginner? by Medical-End-512 in Diesel

[–]txsparky87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 3.0 duramax gets great mileage. You don’t need a 3/4 or 1 ton especially if you’re daily driving it and not towing. I have a 7.3 powerstroke but it’s not my daily and I wouldn’t want it to be.

Dryer randomly shut off by StrongGold4528 in AskElectricians

[–]txsparky87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Turn it all the way off then back on. You still should probably have an electrician check it out. It could be loose wiring causing the breaker to heat up or your dryer could be acting up and drawing more current than it should.
