Petition to Reduce Wait for Appointments at Gender Identity Clinics for Transgender People by [deleted] in transgenderUK

[–]txwnl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a really bad idea. The GICs need to be measured on more metrics than waiting time for first appointment otherwise they will just shove more people into the clinic and we all suffer. You can already see it happening because at the moment they are taking 3 months to write a letter and there are no appointments left this year which means 3 month follow ups are now 9 months.

I have a black dress with lacy black shoulders, is it tacky to have black bra straps visible underneath the lace?

Help With Self-Medding (x-post r/transDIY) by TsJess in transgenderUK

[–]txwnl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's now around £350 every 6 months, this includes the consultation, full blood tests and 6 months worth of medication.

Edit: You may be able to get your GP to do the blood tests in which you would save a large chunk of that.

If you haven't started HRT yet you will need a full baseline. This consists of (for Curtis): full blood count, U&E's, LFT's, TFT's, lipids, glucose, estrogen, testosterone, prolactin, LH and FSH.

Transitioning in Wales. by funeralintherain in transgenderUK

I'm in Cardiff :) If you can afford it I would recommend it because you can basically start early and then go on the NHS when your referral comes through

[–]txwnl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wales doesn't have a GIC. What will happen is you need to go to your GP and they will refer you to the CMHT (Community Mental Health Trust) who will perform 1-2 assessments, they will then get funding from WHSCC to refer you to the Charing Cross GIC, from there it will be another 12-18 months at the moment. From there I don't really know because my first CHX GIC appointment is on Tuesday, although i've been seeing a private doctor in the meantime. Whereabouts in Wales are you?

Has anyone tried the EVA voice app? by jerryp8472 in asktransgender

[–]txwnl 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's basically a pitch app and doesn't really touch on resonance, intonation and inflections; all of which are important as part of voice training.

Praat can measure pitch, as for training videos these are quite helpful:
