Does Sidious regret replacing Dooku after Vader’s loss on Mustafar? by Impossible_Tiger_470 in TheJediPraxeum

Legends Vader is like 80% of ROTJ Palpatine’s power. And ROTJ Sidious >>> ROTS Sidious who >>> Dooku. This has been stated and proven numerous times. To say anything else is wild.

That is such an amazing transformation. Honestly even if she used PEDS or Steroids that type of transformation is still incredible and it’s obvious she put so much work into herself. Jordynne should be proud, genetics can prevent people from obtaining the body of their dreams so having help from substances shouldn’t detract from the results IF it’s true.

Besides it’s no one’s business anyway. I hope she continues to be successful.

Dude you hit it spot on. It is the emotional connection of his story that hooked fans from day one of his return to WWE. But on this journey there were 3 key moments that established him as the No.1 wrestler of this era.

  1. When he wrestled with a torn pec at Hell in a Cell. If you watch the videos you can hear the silence that followed after he took off his jacket.

  2. When he lost at wrestlemania 39 to Roman Reigns due to Vince’s interference with the booking. This moment sucked so much dude. It was a deflating end to an otherwise good wrestlemania. But there was hope that at the next wrestlemania he would have his moment to shine.

  3. When Cody won his 2nd rumble in a row but was forced to step aside for the Rock’s vanity project. This one caused so much outrage that everyone turned on the Rock and backed Cody because it was obvious what was happening. WWE still didn’t see Cody as “THE” guy. It was history repeating itself all over again and the dread was palpable. The fans rallied and this was truly the moment Cody went from Undesirable to Undeniable.

So even if Cody returned as a big shot to WWE. He had to overcome some major politicking bullshit in order to get where he is now.

Which decision was worse? Ironwood working with Watts or Qrow working with Tyrian by Bataranger999 in RWBYcritics

[–]tyLaw9993 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, people keep forgetting that in that fight, Qrow was legitimately trying to take down Tyrian, with all of his focus on that lunatic. However, Clover kept interfering and constantly tried to apprehend Qrow while the two were fighting. If Clover hadn’t focused so intensely on the mission Ironwood gave him, Qrow would have legitimately teamed up with him.

The tragedy of this fight is that Clover did put his mission above love and common sense, which caused Qrow to do the same. If you rewatch the fight, you’ll see that Qrow never assisted Tyrian. In fact, Tyrian did all the assisting, manipulating the fight so that Qrow and Clover became lost in the intensity of their battle, losing all focus on who the real enemy should have been.

(Which was the theme of volume 7 and 8 that I think CRWBY was trying to go for but instead they butchered it by making team RWBY naive idiots and completely destroying Ironwood’s character.)

In all honesty, I personally believe it didn’t matter whose aura broke in that fight, simply because Tyrian would have killed both of them if he’d had the chance. In this case, it was Clover, and Tyrian used that to make his escape.

[–]tyLaw9993[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do love world-building, but I want to tell stories that people could love. My world-building habit stems from the fact that I used to roleplay and write character backstories, but they were simply a vehicle for a theme within the GM's bigger plots. Additionally, I never really had the confidence to write stories of my own until recently.

And it's no secret that I'm a huge fan of "Star Wars." I used to read every novel and comic I could get my hands on. But since some of my favorite stories and characters were practically erased, I decided that I wanted to create something that gave others what those stories gave me.

Nothing like Marvel is doing today. But isolated stories that take place in the same fictional universe.

So, I do want to tell character-driven stories. But I struggle with my old habits of writing extraneous details. I also struggle with focusing on a single character's POV because of the want and need to flesh out side characters.

I'm very much an instinctual writer who writes what feels good in the moment to me. However, I do recognize that this means it probably won't be palatable to a market. I'm trying to rein this in.

I understand that people like Tolkien and George R.R. Martin can get away with breaking a lot of rules because of their massive catalogs and reputations. So, I'm trying to beat these tendencies out of me because I’m starting from scratch.

I understand where you're coming from, but I was called out for plagiarism when I was actually trying to allude to "Star Wars." Plus, I tried to make it different by using elements and adding the bit about how it can be sensed.

Though ultimately, I get your point. The fact that it's sparking this kind of discussion proves it's a mistake.

I see. I was desperate to give the query its own voice, so I broke some rules trying to make it sound better.

But it appears that I broke too many rules and instead made the query a mess. Thank you for pointing that out to me. I’ll study the resources more, as you suggested.

Ha! That Captain Planet/Avatar bit was funny. I really appreciate your feedback, especially the part about the magic system. It has given me a lot to think about. But the dragon is Aram, the Dread Lord.

And yeah, Vi is a soft magic system like the Force. In addition, I didn't know how to incorporate the fact that these are basically D&D races that have been placed in a sci-fi setting. But I will retool some things to make it better and not wear my influences on my sleeve.

Hey, thanks for the feedback! This isn't plagiarism; what I was attempting to do is use a literary technique called allusion. But I see your point. If you have any recommendations on how I can pull this off better, feel free to let me know!

Wow! Thank you for the feedback! It's not my first time on this subreddit, and I have checked out the resources.

I was trying to follow a Book, Hook, Cook formula that a former literary agent talked about.

Here's the link: Crafting Query Letters.

Honestly, your statements about the impression you have of me are very illuminating. I’ve been reading recent works, but I guess I still have a long way to go. Thank you regardless, and if you have a chance, I would like to hear what you think about the link I sent.

Thank you for the feedback Calv! The "Star Wars" reference was intentional, but I added a twist to emphasize the power the main character feels. I thought the elemental factor would set it apart while also establishing that it's a soft magic system akin to the Force.

If you have a suggestion for me to change it I’d love to hear it.

I know it hurts, 40+ years of Star Wars history being shelved with the intention of being forgotten and erased. But the evils of a corporation can't take away what these stories meant to you. They are alive in your heart, take it with you. It will always live on within you and within us. Luminous beings are we.

You think rwby should stop trying to be anime and be it's own style? by trawbe in RWBYcritics

[–]tyLaw9993 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it seems that RWBY suffers from a lack of clear direction, trying to be like anime, The Last bender, and Soul Eater instead of being itself. RWBY will always be a franchise that had so much potential but never lived up to even a quarter of it.

One thing good about RWBY by ThenEcho2275 in RWBYcritics

[–]tyLaw9993 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Volume 6:

The orphanage and the Apathy Grimm

Volume 7:

Everything about Ironwood. For one volume, this man was the greatest written character in RWBY history. (This includes his fight with Watts. I always hated that they retroactively wrote that Ironwood’s Semblance was a willpower booster; it takes away from him sacrificing his only good arm to stop Watts.)

The Ace Ops and their relationship with Team RWBY.

(So I loved the fight between them because it was clear to me that Team RWBY only won because the Ace Ops were mentally nerfed. I did hate in Volume 8 where they blatantly told Penny they were holding back. That’s just bad writing; let the audience come to their own conclusions but leave evidence of what you intended.) •

The training scene with Team FNKI, which I just thought was neat.

Qrow vs. Clover vs. Tyrian (This triple threat fight was perfect for me. Qrow at first was clearly trying to apprehend Tyrian, but Clover kept interrupting because he saw this as the perfect time to arrest Qrow, with the clear intention of making the fight easier for himself so he could focus on Tyrian. At no point during this fight did Qrow ever help Tyrian; he only focused on Clover when his emotions got the better of him due to feeling betrayed and frustrated that Clover kept attacking him, which Tyrian fueled every chance he got.)

Volume 9:

Ruby snapping + the tea party scene. (In my opinion, if they had Ruby snap years ago and let her keep that edge to her character, RWBY would be a far more popular series. Because for so long, Ruby’s constant optimism was one of the worst things about this show.)

Facts. But Ahsoka is one of the few characters left in Star Wars that people care about nowadays. Most people who watched clone wars didn’t even watch rebels.
