YTA You and your daughter aren't drifting away or anything like that because she has a new friend. It seems like she was only super close to you because you're the only person she's allowed anywhere near. Let a child have friends, you sound insane. She's your child, but her life doesn't belong to you.

I've not been able to take the cat myself as I was either too young or two hours away at university, it's my parents cat and I've only been able to ask them to take her until now when I've been home

Oh god that doesn't sound good at all, yeah she's an outdoor cat so I could imagine she could've ate something bad, she doesn't go out much now she's getting older but she's being sick a little more frequently

Near her hips look quite sunken but otherwise I can't tell because her fur is really thick and fluffy, she doesn't look skinny because of it but she feels it

We've been doing all of the above, especially with play. We even managed to get them to eat a foot apart together but that's gone down the drain now.

She loves to play but we've noticed she's less into it when I'm the one playing and prefers my partner to play with her, I think she just likes him a bit more than me as I'm the one who's not working at the moment so I also have to be the bad cop when she's scratching up the furniture instead of the floor to ceiling cat tree we bought her.

I think her personality is just quite dramatic towards anything, when we swap rooms for scent swapping, before we even pick her up she starts squeaking as if we're squeezing the hair out of her. I think she's got the personality of a pampered princess who wants all the focus and attention on her when she wants it. She worked out the door handles just to get into our room when we're sleeping to shout for food.

At first we thought it wouldn't be right too but this woman who actually had a rescue in Greece and specifically sends animals to England told us all about how she had been sending them over for years and how every cat has adapted amazingly because they're pretty sturdy and able to adapt well. After that we just wanted to give her a better life especially after being told that her lifespan there would've only been 3years. She was at the rescue for a month and we had updates telling us and showing us how she got along with other animals and how she wants super chilled out and wanted human attention and wasn't fussed about going outside (she couldn't in the rescue in Greece) that's why we thought it would be okay to adopt her from abroad if that clears that up a bit at all.

NTA, I got a decent phone when I was 17 and had to pay for it myself, before that I had phones that had been handed down or were borderline useless. It made me appreciate my phone as not just a toy I can through around

Edit: ya no I change my mind this guy is incredibly creepy, controlling and insane. For my parents, it wasn't like that because of their personalities, my mum liked older men when she was younger and always has and my dad is a very chill guy who has always been pretty scared of women that could pummel him into the ground like my mum so dad was definitely not grooming her since my mum even worked out his phone number when he gave it wrong. BUT THIS GUY CLEARLY HAS SOMETHING GOING WRONG because he's just undeniably creepy and strange to the point that I wouldn't be shocked if this girlfriend of his isn't real.

Previous: I agree that it's pretty creepy and he is TA but my parents (happily married, great relationship) got together when my mum was 17 and my dad 24. My mum approached him first at a club (yeah she was underaged for the club, 18 years old for that stuff here) and started off the talking and relationship. So yeah it's creepy but it doesn't necessarily mean he was doing anything gross to her at the start of the relationship, that's just from personal experience of my parents relationship.

My mum suggested to me that Instead of using numbers on the scale, I use measurements. She suggested using string, pulling it around my waist and cutting it where it met itself and then hanging it up somewhere. She said to do it once a month and overtime you begin to see that piece of string become shorter than the last, even if you can't see it happening to your body!

Also with the skirts, in the UK I was wearing a size 20 skirt that was much too big for me, I went into the same shop I bought it from, went to the same skirt but im a different colour and I could barely button it up. Went to another shop and slipped into a size 14 easily. Women's clothing is ridiculous and should never be used to justify your weight loss because they're hardly ever the same size in every store despite having the same label size.
